The Gen VII water type starter probably wont be as good as Froakie..seriously

Oshawott was the only good gen 5 starter. Fennekin was a godsend. I'd say Chespin was too but that line is only good because of chestnaught.

I think Frogadier is better than both Quilladin and Braixen, I like Chesnaught as well..only thing I don't like is the color scheme. I actually picked Froakie in X, and Chespin in Y.

I have a feeling a lot of our posters now weren't even around for X/Y. /vp/ was very split on Greninja. I liked it from the moment it leaked, though I was a Chespin guy so I liked Chesnaught more.

It's a water type with good Sp, Atk, Just give it Surf like you would any other water type and it's fine.

I loved Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic and Chimchar.

But I am not a big fan of either Tepig or Fennekin, so hopefully the fire starter is better this time around.
