So in XY theres an aquarium. Its also featured in series XY s1e22: Going for the Gold. Now theres been a number of threads lately about the ethical differences between beating up a pokemon and capturing it versus "poaching" and my question is how in the fuck does an aquarium fit into this.. Seems like its more along the lines of poaching except the pokémon in the aquarium seem pretty happy. Ideas, /vp/?

It's probably like farming or other non pet domestic use. They seem happy and the aquarium is perfectly legal, so I'd assume it's collecting or something.
Are there any ethical conundrums to beating the hell out of hundreds of wild pokemon without catching them or anything
i feel like there would be, although theyre technically all attacking you

i think there are, and watching the anime really solidifies how much of a piece of shit we all are, but for some reason theres a difference in the pokemon world..

farming kinda implies they were bred for the task at hand. aquariums tend to have wild-caught animals though..
The anime and the games are two completely different universes with completely different ethics and rules.
In the games, the pokemon are a lot more like the demons from SMT, as in they choose to come out and attack you, and they choose to get caught so they can become stronger.
In D/P/P one of the folktales tell a story about when a human killed pokemon, they all decided to fuck off and not show themselves until he finds them and changes his ways.
In the anime they're like smart animals.

In the game they are ferocious animals who are trying to attack you. Hence why they all have their battle cry. In the anime they are retards who constantly repeat their own names.
