Just the other day I successfully set up the cute charm glitch on my copy of Pearl.

Now, for the rest of the game, I have about a 20% of any wild poke'mon of being shiny.
Totally legit too.

Only shiny I've ever found in the wild was a Horsea in Fire Red.
