Nah, I still have to beat either Lachlan or Stefan to be the fire rep.

So thinking about tournament formats for next time, should it stay with this modified version of double elimination or change to a standard double elimination bracket with the longest lasting of each type becoming the representative, or 5 or so rounds of swiss parings.

Advantages of normal double elim will have a fully setup bracket so the matchups are transparent. Winners and Losers bracket. Makes it difficult if one of the adjustable matchups happens to occur though.

Advantages of swiss is that everyone gets the same number of battles and a lot more. People tend to just no show if they lose a couple though. Might just be unfamiliarity with the rules, but this is becomes a big issue.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

I'd say Swiss is best for this type of tournament. It prevents early eliminations due to unlucky match-ups or being unlucky with RNG.

Although perhaps be a little stricter with the deadline of one round per week (so all matches must be played, otherwise it counts as a loss). If any player happens to be unable to play for a whole week then they should contact their opponent and/or the tournament organiser beforehand.

I was reading through the docs. Ilike that some of the weaker legends are allowed now. I bet Zapdos helps out poor Electric nicely. I might have advocated for allowing more, like Cresselia, Heatran (maybe), Mesprit & friends , or regular Shaymin, Celebi, Jirachi...

Do the cosplay Pikas help at all? With ORAS meta, do you still think you have cripple Mega Lucario? Just interested in how the format has evolved, discussion, etc.

Shaymin, Celebi etc are banned by flat rules. Nobody wants to see cress or heatran. Yes mega luke should still be restricted. There was some discussion on restricing more mega, like sableye lopunny and metagross before this one started. Nothing came of it.

I like my Pokemon to last a while in general. It's just my preferred battle style. I like Drain Punch because of the healing; I'd still use Return & HJK. I also like having a priority move when it's practical. If you find my style dumb, whatever. Beside the point. Point was that if y'all ditched Fake Out, I think Mega Lopunny would still have tons of worthwhile options. Power-Up Punch looks tempting too.

Once the tourney is over there will be time to right any wrongs that were missed, if there are any.

Our 3vs3 ruleset is one of the most balanced overall. I think it's impressive that so little needs banned. Serendipity, maybe. I prefer it over all other single battle formats besides perhaps vanilla Battle Spot.

The biggest flaws are mostly GF's fault in designing some types to be more limited in this format - understandable, since our format is not a consideration.

If it becomes allowed, then we have genies rampant again.
Now, they can be beaten, but go into Showdown and go into monotype.

Some are fine like Heatran. since it's metal only answer to fire, but most aren't.

Smogon monotype monotype isn't too bad. 6v6 is nice because it gives you a few more defensive options. Half my team that I've entered in this tournament is useless because they rely on switching out a lot.

The current matches are to determine the representative trainers for each element type. Once that's decided the new pairings are each type rep vs each type rep with a points system (+3 for each round won vs -1 for each round lost - feel free to correct) and after a certain number of rounds, the top 8 point holders (if they choose to accept) are the 8 gym leaders for the upcoming gym challenge.
