Tyrantrum, so they have something that resists the starters in a Dragon-type and can apply serious damage with coverage fangs
Cradily, specifically to deal with Water-types
Archeops, because if it's properly EV'd it'll hit devastatingly hard before being taken down to nothing by Defeatist and can deal with Grass-types

My only real issues are that Excadrill and Magmortar were already the aces of other trainers in 5th and 4th gen respectively. At least as far as I know, repeat aces doesn't happen.

The teams listed here would be post-game rematch teams, where each gym leader has a full team of six and can use Mega-Evolution.

I posted it once long time ago, but now this is an updated version.

1 gym leader is a veteran pilot, his gym is a military aviation museum.
2 gym leader is a "mad" female scientist in her thirties, her gym is a huge chemical laboratory.
3 gym leader is a young guy who believes himself to be a reincarnation of the ancient hero. He wears a cape (of course!) and can understand Dragon-type pokemon. His gym is some sort of fantasy castle.
4 gym leader is a girl who looks like Mesoamerican Indian. She has tan skin and colorful native clothes. Her gym has motive of Aztec sun temple.
5 gym leader is a VERY old man who looks like a walking mummy - very thin, bald, with dark eyes and very wrinkled and dry skin. His gym is a tomb labyrinth located mostly underground.
6 gym leader is a woman blacksmith. Kinda looks like woman from that "We can do it!" poster. Her gym is a mix of mine and forge. Trainers in her gym use variety of Ground, Rock and Steel pokemon.
7 gym leader is a guy who is obsessed with cleanness and purity. He is very pale, with white hair and very light blue or gray eyes, and wears completely white uniform. His gym is mostly white as well, it looks very organized and clean, but bland and empty.
8 gym leader is a gothic femme fatale. She has "mafia boss" and "vampiress" motives in her design. Her gym is a classical high-class mansion.

Elite Four don't specialize at certain type, but rather have a theme they follow. They are based on classical fantasy classes - Mage/Wizard, Knight/Paladin, Rogue and Barbarian.
Champion is kind of comedic character, he's a king (literally, he's a ruler of region) and uses pokemon with "king" in name. Gimmick team, but he himself is a pretty goofy guy, kinda like Alder, but even more so.

Well to be fair it's not like we can get any worse the Johto's E4 being in the Lv. 40s and being incredibly pushovers. Sinnoh's E4 was pretty bad since they could be swept with Earthquake and Crunch.

The reason I had Mega Gardevoir was because I gave the Steel Gym Mega Mawhile, and there are only so many Fairy Megas. I wanted the Steel Gym Leader to be female like Jasmine, so I figured giving her Mawhile over say the other Steel Megas would be more fitting.

This thread seems as good a place as any if someone wants to bounce ideas off me. I'm running a Pokemon tabletop game in Poke-Texas. One of the gym leaders has his gym set on an offshore oil rig, but I'm trying to think of what pokemon would be good for his team. I've been trying to make my gyms thematic rather than mono-type based, though I feel he'd have at least one or two rock types. Anyone have some good ideas?

I like the idea of the E4 and champ not specializing in types though. Maybe a Mega for third E4, but I don't have any suggestions for who to use. Switches it up for the better.
Only other thing is that whole I think the Champ things is funny, he's got three water types, which seems like a lot if he doesn't specialize in water type pokes. Maybe if the region had lots of water or something it would work thematically though.
