Nope, you're at 10.7. Being past that would be being at 10.8 or something, which at the moment doesn't exist, but once it does it will most likely patch the exploit that lets you downgrade to 9.2 (don't worry, you can get everything to work on 9.2 or even go back to the latest system version with a fully hacked 3ds).

The -XX part at the end is the NVer. They're basically the online services.

Well, right now you'd need more money to get oothax or ninjhax anyway. If you don't do arm9loaderhax and you don't do something stupid like shutting down the 3DS during the downgrade or using the wrong downgrade files you're not going to brick.

If you know anyone who has a 3DS but doesn't use it much or doesn't update it often (basically it needs to be 10.5 or below), you can use it to edit the save without changing anything in that 3DS. You'd only need to put some files in the SD card and then delete them.

For me it wasn't really hard, just tedious. I probably spent a few hours going through the process of downgrading and setting up emunand and the menu managing shit. I didn't bother going past that because everything seems to work I got tired of dealing with it.

I was pretty much indifferent to Femmekin the whole playthrough. When the ending came and my player character was supposed to REALLY care about her because she was actually Mew and she planned everything and we were already best friends in another life, I just couldn't. It also really bothered me that the whole reason she reincarnated was to learn a lesson that didn't apply to the story at all, complemented by the fact that she doesn't really change to be any less of a jerkass over the course of the story. Thanks to the ending, there's now this mind-numbingly illogical backstory attached to my partner that I never wanted and would've been fine without.

Comparing PSMD to another game, I think Ventuswill from Rune Factory 4 did the whole disappear-during-the-ending-and-fight-to-get-them-back-during-the-postgame thing a lot better. Despite being a pretty generic character, her backstory didn't break her character or the story, nothing story-heavy was dumped on the player character right at the end, and the postgame to get her back took a really long time to complete and was actually pretty challenging.

And of course for an actually good version of a reveal where a character you know's established to also be another well-known character, there's Ray from Ghost Trick.

I think Explorers really did all they could with legendaries as final bosses. We have our behind the shadows schemer and our massive primal force of nature. Yveltal would have been a shit main villain for Super. Not only was it incredibly obvious, I already know what Yveltal can do. It's a big flying bird that shoots death lasers. At least with shit like Dark Matter and The Bittercold, we're dealing with stuff we didn't know much about going into the game., adding that fear of the unknown element to it.

Unfortunately, the fear of the unknown thing only works well the first time. Sure Yveltal was predictable, but it was replaced with an equally generic OC that had no real ties to the Pokemon world. Yveltal could have Dark Matter's moveset, motives, and abilities and it would still be more believable and less jarring than some black cage ball thing made of literal hate.

The reason Eevee wasn't in Super was because deciding on what evolution the Harmony Scarves would pick for the three times in the game that they're used would be a nightmare.

I think it'd be better with no real ties. Also in this case, jarring would be a good thing. The Bittercold worked better than Dark Matter. The whole made of misery thing made a degree of sense since it was a theme in Gate's story. Dark Matter would have been better if they just cut the negativity shit out and made it a Lavos rip off. As for both of them, they should have had stranger appearances. Snowflakes and black spheres didn't exactly cut it too well.

A human origin for the villain probably has better antagonist potential than just some megalomaniac legendary. Not saying that the final boss/main villain being some legendary would be bad, but they'd need to do something different or interesting with it to avoid it feeling overly predictable or mundane. You could say that stuff like the Bittercold and Dark Matter are also mundane, but at least they have a bit of an outsider feel to them.

I think that what makes a villain executed well is really all in the writing, human or not. Dialga was still interesting for a megalomaniac since it had the concept of being an innocent legendary corrupted by nature simply seeking self-preservation. Despite being just another legendary fight, the writing behind it was really well done. And if it's gameplay you're also worried about, just Phazon their shit up, simply speaking, and give them unique moves just for the final battle.

Also, read what I suggested for Dark Matter being more of a puppeteer villain than a petrification villain. Skorupi's evo, Drapion, has made it to the end of ZIS. It used scarves to do it, but only about a third of the way. Skorupi also gets Pin Missile, and seems to have alright offense

Elaborating on that it said that Dark Matter gets energy by trapping pokemon in the void. Could be altered so that's a goal in and of itself. It's just a hungry and unfeeling alien.

When it's put that way 'Primal Dialga' is much more fitting than a generic 'Dark Dialga' given it was reduced to primal instincts. Animals only care about self preservation and reproduction, and Dialga was reduced to that state (Dusknoir had the same goals, but was more lucid about the whole thing), which was kind of creepy seeing something that powerful being reduced to something like that. The writing behind Primal Dialga was pretty good for the most part, the only problem being that I don't think he was mentioned once ever since leaving the future, killing the tense build up that the Bittercold and Dark Matter had.

In the end, it's not what they do, it's how they do it.

In PMD, non-evolved starters are so much better that I now do this in the main games, even though its not nearly as viable.

They're the only games other than HG/SS to make your pokemon actually connect to you.
