Which games had the best soundfont?
>>25792507
Gen 5 by a landslide. I'm glad the Gen 5 games were still for the DS, because they were able to do some wonderful things with the familiar environment.
Gen 2 gets props for what they were able to do with limited hardware though, that was masterful.
>>25792507
I think you mean best everything OP
i actually really like gen 4`s. it`s probably just because of nostalgia though
>>25792507
DPPt's got that funky-ass bass though.
>>25792546
Came here to post this.
Probably gen 6, the DS's soundfont was too tinny in my opinion.
I loved and still love Gen 3's trumpet meme
>>25792507
XY/ORAS definitely. You might not like the arrangements but the sound font is like a tier or two above all the crappy MIDIshit we had to deal with until now. Just compare XYs Champion Red battle theme to BW2's, the difference is enormous.
SM will be even better.

>Gen 1
Classic, simple 8 bit goodness. 7/10
Best track imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toNSuhgBKN8
>Gen 2
Classic, simple 8 bit goodness with more interesting compositions. 7.5/10
Best track imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyPamrElGOM
>Gen 3
Nice melodies, but the over-excessive amount of trumpets becomes genuinely boring and irritating. 6/10
Best track imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6sSj1JlPnE
OR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zro82OX6iv0
>Gen 4
Some of my favorite tunes are in this game. Despite that, however, the smooth, urban sounding piano + synth tunes get stale fast. 7/10
Best track imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8cLW0Lckhc
>HeartGold/Soulsilver
A similar issue to Gen 3. However, the traditional, oriental aesthetic gave the games a comfy and addictive sound. 8/10
>Gen 5
Fantastic range of instruments borrowed from both the D/P/P era, and the HG/SS games. Everything sounds fresh and lively and upbeat, and every track is relatively unique in sound. 9/10
Absolute favorite Pokemon song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qyiQfV-eMQ
Also good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zrn5TXjl_dM
>Gen 6
Goes down the Gen 5 route of making every track as unique as possible, which is wonderful. Unfortunately, trying to mimic the sound of a grand orchestra using computer instruments sounds quite tacky at times. 8.5/10.
Best track imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFT_B06qKdk
also pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3XEUx4-76Y

This nigga gets it. Good opinions, anon.

>Best track imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyPamrElGOM
ABSOLUTELY agreed. It's the one that pops up in my head every so often even after all these years. Even after I played the remakes the 8bit track remains as memorable as always.

found the retarded ignorant

Fuck off hoennbaby. Anyone who isn't blinded by nostalgia can tell that literally every single piece of music in that game sounds exactly the same.

Gne VI music was just so gooooood to me
>>25792507
Gen 5 had a terrible soundtrack
Iris theme sounded more like a Departement Store or Contest Hall background music than a champion's theme
>>25793461
One doesn't need to be a hoennbaby to realize that you're an idiot for thinking a Trumpet is the exact same instrument as a French Horn. Hoenn's music is filled with French Horns, way more than Trumpets.
Gen 5. Gen 6 turned most tracks into generic orchestral shit
>>25793891
>Gen 6 turned most tracks into generic orchestral shit
Which is infinitly better than Gen V's crappy electronical sounds
>>25793886
Still all sounds the same who cares what instrument it is
gen 2 had the best track.
I confess that I don't listen to the music as often as I should in these games, but I made an exception for the Team Plasma themes and Ghetis' themes. They were top tier.
