Hush autistic child. Gen 3 was perfect. Tropical, colorful, and so much water, it truly felt perfect. If that weren't enough, the Pokémon were straight up epic, and most are still some of the best and most beloved Pokémon to date. We love Gen 3. That's how we feel about all Pokémon games though. Plus, PMD was amazing! Truly a peak for GF.

It is my favorite gen. There is not a single design I dislike from this gen except Blaziken. I also like the tropical style of the region as well. The water routes are not as bad as people make them out to be. 10/10 would play again

A couple oddball designs but nothing egregiously bad. Overall the design is really solid, giving Hoenn a more tropical feel than either Kanto or Johto. Personally, it gave me a few of my favorite pokemon designs.

Fairly mediocre. Great art, great music. Awful Pokémon distribution, first time they shoehorned legendaries into the plot and regression in terms of day/night and Pokémon animations.
Pokémon were all kinda eh. Starters were quite lame, as were the legendaries. GOAT pseudo-legendaries and best Battle Frontier though.

Where's a good place to get gen 3 roms? I never played Emerald, and I've heard that it's miles better than ORAS

I didn't really like the games when they came out. But now my favorite pokemon came from it.

It's the only good generation. Literally flawless. Objectively the best new mons, best OST, best gyms, best trainers, best starters, best region, best 4, best story, best everything. Anyone who says it wasn't 12/10 is an autistic gen 4/5/6 faggot. Battle frontier is the single greatest thing to ever happen to any game in gaming history.

Seriously confused as to how people think this is the best region...literally half the region is all the same pokes. Water routes have no variation in catchable pokes, level scaling in ORAS is trash. Trainers all have the same pokes/are trash. Literally the only thing oras did right was the dex nav. Only redeemable factor about the region itself was dive. I dont even know where begin to list the unusable amount of pokemon this gen gave us. Solrock, seviper, shiftry, banette, tropius. All terrible. Seriously hate this fucking region.

My favorite gen, ORAS being bad didn't really change my opinion about it. I must have replayed RSE over 30 times now, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. Great visuals for its time, great region with no stupid gates, constant 60 fps, unintrusive story/NPCs, the best side content, the best secrets and, last but not least, the best set of starters. Battle Frontier is what hooked me on competitive Pokemon and made me a life-long fan in general (I was close to dropping Pokemon altogether after I got hooked on Golden Sun). FRLG were pretty good as remakes and after replaying Yellow last month I can safely say I'm going to stick to the remakes for the rest of my life. Also emulate-able on any device nowadays, which is also a plus.

The dex itself is really hit and miss, most of my favorite AND least favorite Pokemon happen to come from that gen. I tend not don't mind the occasional shitmon though as long as mons like Flygon, Swampert, Latios, Salamence, Breloom, Milotic, Jirachi, Altaria and Absol are also there.

Overall 10/10 would turn back time to 2003 just to experience them for the first time all over again.

The only designs from Gen III that I actually find myself actively disliking are Grumpig and Castform's base form. Everything else I either really like or am ambivalent towards at worst. It also introduced some of my favorite Pokemon to the series (Sableye, the Regi trio, Deoxys, Crawdaunt, Claydol, Cacturne, Kecleon, and Cradily), so I'm pretty partial to it overall.

Very firm 9/10.

I hadn't tought about it a lot and I don't often take part in those threads but, holy shit, I love this gen.

I love all three of the starters, almost to the point of calling them my favorites, Cradildo is my favorite mon, out of the whole dex.
I really can't tell why but I like almost every line, camerupt, hariyama, dusclops, kaorine, breloom, ninjask, the list goes on.
I even grew found of some of the mons I didn't like as a child, Mega Altaria is my favorite mega, I find myself using Regirok in PU more and more often and I don't know why clicking Knock off on Crawdaunt feels this good to me but it does.
I loved the bike music, the underwater music, the Victory road musing, I even love the fucking sound pokémons make when they evolve.

Since I can't really explain rationally why I love this gen so much, I guess most of my rush comes from nostalgia, after all, it's the first Pokémon game I got to myself, without having to share it with a relative.

Now than I think about, I went through a lot of first times in gen 3, Rayquaza is the first mon I raised to lvl 100, Baggon is the first mon I bred after I learnt about natures and how they work (IV were waaaaaaay too hard to maximise back in the days), I got in touch with an entirely Pokémon dedicated community online, a small French website called pokébip, I made a lot of friends there, some of which I'm still in touch now.

I got introducted to "competitive" online, on pokémon showdown's ancester, which's name I can't remember, stall was the norm back then and I litterally played thousands of hours of it, to the point where even now I'm still a stall afficionado.

I need to replay, just to see if it is as good as I remember it, as far as I know, the two big flows it had were the lack of physical/special split and the length of the water-heavy passage between the sixth and eigth gym.
