They can be bad at competitive (excluding Sableye and Mawile now in Gen 6) but I love all these mons by their designs, gen 2 had many "incomplete designs", like Gligar, Yanma or Misdreavus, thanks to Gen 4 they feel more complete now in my opinion, I really like them.
>>
>>25762514
There's nothing wrong with basic animals that just add variety to the world or showcase some new game feature. We're here to catch 'em all, after all.
Of course there's still room to expand on them in the future, but they aren't hurting anything by just existing.
>>
>>25762635
Gen 1 Gengar had an immunity to normal type moves (which were probably the most common moves back then). It also had high Special, it was the fastest sleep inducer and it had a good move pool.

Please educate yourself.

Are we talking about in-game fights, right? Explain me how could you not just win with whatever pokémon you want to use vs NPCs. This game has always been super easy. Don't see how that thing could not just work with a shadow ball.
>>
>>25762635
How does that comparison make any sense? If Gengar had Absol's Spe, it would probably have been as shitty in Gen 1 as Absol is in Gen 3. Absol needed priority physical STAB to get use because it made up for its Spe. Then it got a Mega that gave it Spe. Gengar had Spe from the beginning. Plus, it had a sleep-inducing move. Plus, it had an immunity to Body Slam. Did you think at all before making that comparison?

I was talking about in-game fights. And anyway sleep inducing was literally the only thing gengar could do. Ok free switch on Tauros's return, can't deal any damage to him, die next turn from eq.

>>
>>25762706
Obviously since every Pokemon CAN be used successfully in-game, that can't be the definition of a shitmon.

I'd define it as something that is pretty useless or outclassed competitively and that is also less useful in-game than the majority of other choices. Wormadam comes to mind. I liked using Wormadam-G in-game, and I even used it competitively for some reason (Sucker Punch and EQ nonsense), but it was much less useful overall than if I had just used a decent Ground type. Despite the fact I like it and I used it, I know it's a shitmon.

To be fair though, the ones that they supported turned out fuckin' great.

>>25762794
I tried, but the thing is just unusable. Best you can do is throw up a Reflect and hope you don't get killed through it before you can switch.
>>
>>25762814
Ledian really needs an evo or mega. I dont want to say it myself, but a simple stat increase wouldnt help enough.
>>
>>25762805
Sleep in-game was so good in Gen 1. Put an opponent to sleep and they never switch out because they're dumb. They wake up and can't do anything bc Gen 1. Put them back to sleep next turn. Rinse and repeat.

The order of how useful competitively each gen's Pokemon are to the current game (counting Megas as whatever gen that Pokemon came in, not Gen 6) is
3 > 1 > 5 > 4 > 2 > 6

Gen 3 has Manaphy, Sableye, Altaria, Garchomp, Latios, Metagross, Gardevoir, Latias, Manectric, Jirachi, Medicam

Gen 1 has Charizard (X & Y), Clefable, Alakazam (both forms), Gengar, Mew, Slowbro, Venusaur, Aerodactyl, Gyarados, Pinsir, Starmie

Gen 5 has Bisharp, Excadrill, Ferrothorn, Heatran, Keldeo, Landorus, Thunderus, Tornadus, Kyurem-B, Serperior, Volcorona

Gen 4 has Garchomp, Hippowdown, Lopunny, Weavile, Gliscor, Magnezone, Rotom-W

What's with shitting on a gens designs in the first place? Every generation has shit designs and a generation being your favorite doesn't make it less true. You complain about someone shitting on gen 3 yet you're shitting on gen 2 in the same post. You're no better than the other anon. Also

>Baby mons
>Gligar
>Shit
At least design wise they're better than a lot of gen 3 mons. And as for gen 3 having more shit solely because it added more, there's a difference of 34 mons. When the majority of them have bad designs it isn't because of how many there are. It's just a lack of quality. But there's no sense in arguing with people like you because you just like to shit on generations you don't like while blindly praising your favorite generation no matter how bad it is as a whole.
>>
>>25769856
which ones were actually leftovers?
>>
The problem with gen 2 is that nearly every gen 2 pokemon is either shit, obtained far too late in the game to actually use, or hidden away and awkward to obtain.

Want a Yanma, Marill, Dunsparce, Snubbull, Qwilfish or Remoraid? 1% ENCOUNTER RATE UNLESS YOU GET A RANDOM PHONE CALL.
Want to use Misdreavus, Sneasel or Larvitar? HA HA NOPE, NOT UNTIL MT SILVER.
Slugma and Murkrow? NOPE, NOT UNTIL KANTO.
Want a heracross? HAVE FUN HEADBUTTING RANDOM TREES FOR HOURS.
Oh neat, you got a Ledian? IT'S TOTAL FUCKING SHIT.

>>
