Honestly, is Lysandre actually the only anime version of an evil team villain that's getting handled pretty well, I mean, he's actually the only one that's shown with his own Pokemon(Pyroar).

Also, I really hope we get a Team Rocket vs Team Flare, as in Giovanni and a good chunk of the organization coming to Kalos. The anime needs to make up for the loss of that Plasma vs Rocket special.

I think this is what irks me the most about the new gens. The writers got careful and left out all the bitching, malice and lethal slapstick that made the early seasons somewhat watchable. Now every character must act sickeningly sweet so they don't set a bad example for the kids or something.

I agree. I really enjoy XY (&Z) but they don't have a proper rival.

Alan could have been the best rival but he's more of a moral rival. Plus the fact that he only has Charizard. He has a great set up, backstory etc though that can be easily compared to Paul (Shinji).

Shota is not a bad rival but I don't see why they gave Ash a noob rival that he rapes everytime they battle. Sure, he gets better everytime and will have a great team but I don't get why they could have him be more of a Berry rival that had traveled a lot as well. Not edgy but not overally friendly. Shota's battle technique is literally made to counter Ash though.

But I would say the pokemon in XY are better developed than DP overall. Infernape was easily the most developed. Greninja has developed a lot but the fact that he has such a serious personality and left trainers because he didn't find them "worthy" of training him makes him look like an ass. Hawlucha defiantly has the best personality out of all of them though.

Well, the complaint I have here is the same one I have with the game series, and that is that any real plot they have going is terribly disjointed with what everything is SUPPOSED to be about. It's like I'm seeing two totally different stories at once. With the games, I can usually say the villain plot could be removed from the game and nothing would be lost. With the anime, I don't know what their goal is anyway, so I don't know what to say. What I do know is that they can't be both. You can't be random and have continuity at the same time. You can't change the tone at the flip of a switch. It WOULD be interesting, except I know this has no relevance to the greater arc. Paul had much more relevance, but unfortunately, nothing was learned from it, so it ended up being meaningless. How in the world can people write this way? To have good ideas, but the focus is either taken away from them, or the execution falls flat? I can only blame executive meddling for both.

I realised XY had potential when I saw the first ep as it aired. Started watching again ever since.

I hate everything with Alan in it.

I'll be honest, Ashninja was the thing that made me curious about the anime again. I wouldn't go so far as to call it good (kek) but it has a few entertaining episodes.

So how did the pokemon anime get good? Saying its better than a shit season doesn't make it good if anything it went from shit to bad

They have of course a few good episode, like legit good but does are somewhat rare.

Plus, some plots like the Team Flare plot is handled much better than in the games and since it involves zygarde it's very interesting since we don't know at all what will happen and what their goal is.
