Sceptile is the only one of Satoshi pokemon who did what no other pokemon did, battle with most legendaries in the anime: Regirock, Deoxys, Darkrai and Latios; and he appeared in the Sinnoh league. (Darkrai got damage from Heracross and Gible blah blah blah... Darkrai recovered from that damage with Dream eater).

Infernape went apeshit on Paul, but he was only a regional powerhouse, he didn't fight legends.

Ash's Pikachu is just a regular Pikachu with lightning rod as its ability.

In the show, all of the times it's done anything exceptional it was recently supercharged in some way. i.e. struck by a lightning bolt, charged with a Pokecenter's "pika-power" generator, charged with a water mill generator.

Since then, Ash's pikachu has reached normal limits. You don't see building-sized electricity blasts anymore.
