What you could do is:
randomize:
Wild pokemon, ban legendaries, randomize held items, ban bad items. Randomize static pokemon and if you want trades both required and received.
Trainer pokemon, names and trainer class.
Movesets, abilities and starters with randomize items and ban bad items.

Also randomize tm's and randomize which pokemon can learn them. You can randomize tutors but keep field moves intact (for headbutt in HGSS for instance).

Also optional, but that depends on your preferences, randomize types. If you randomize the types you are in for the wildest of rides since you have no idea what will be super effective against anything unless you caught it or battled it beforehand. I wouldn't fuck around with the stats etc. though since you could evolve your mon into one that has worse stats.

I generally prefer randomizing most everything except for stats, but to have moves go with the new types. So it's randomized, but still has some logic to it rather than being full chaos.
That being said, I don't remember there being an option to randomize evolutions and move stuff.

Rival keeps starter for the rest of the game just for fun. It will evolve even if it requires a stone or something usually.
I prefer to not randomize items, because if you do that you will find a fuckton of berries, even though it is possible you will find leftovers etc. It is a much bigger risk that can easily backfire.

I don't know about Sacred Gold but in Vanilla Togekiss learns no moves by level up. It's a lot better to train Togetic until it has a decent moveset and then evolve it.

Update after the second gym. After a stream of bullshit deaths (Cinderalla the Celfairy died to a fucking Fire Spin Solrock and Bad Company the Nuzleaf died to N) and missed catches (had to abort a Dunsparce catch because the fucker was on his fifth Rollout), we've made it through by grinding both Swoobat and Pignite to level 30.

Not him, but I think that's the point. Pokemon has gotten too easy because everyone knows the type advantages. Remember back when you first played Pokemon you likely had no idea what was strong against what other than very obvious ones like Water > Fire and such, and even then you had Sudowoodo and everyone thinking it was grass and being confused as hell.

Personally that seems like a cool challenge to have to relearn what Pokemon are what in the midst of battle, I think it offers more strategy, planning, and use of items honestly.

I had that happen to me with Soul Silver, it's the ROM itself that causes it, eventually it won't even load properly. You're gonna have to reboot it and start save stating and loading those up to continue playing.

Randomized HGSS?
Get the Desmume emulator, and the universal pokemon randomizer. Open up your chosen rom with the randomizer, put in your desired settings, and save the randomized rom separately. Then all you have to do is open it in Desmume and you're good to go!

But what I've done from then to now:

I don't know why I always think Whitney is in the 24-27 range when she's really in the 21-24 range. Regardless, she's got powerful attacks and mostly fully evolved pokemon so no regrets about overgrinding. Plus it's just less to grind for morty.
I'm putting rat in reserves after Morty, hopefully I get a worthy replacement in the next couple routes. She's been MVP this run but I know her time is running out and I don't want to see her die.

Morty wasn't an issue, it was mostly a raticate sweep as usual. Too bad I headbutted a tree hoping for something good in ecruteak instead of going for a guaranteed poliwag (and by extension, politoed). I think I want a special water-type for surf (since gyarados is about to get aqua tail), not sure if I'll use omanyte or hold out for one of my next few water catches coming up. I played a heartgold randomizer with random moves that were closely aligned to type. I would turn off legendaries. Randomized abilities is pretty fun. Dont randomize opponents pokemon though, when I battled Red it became anti-climatic since three of his pokemon were not fully evolved.

You do know that there is an option to randomize their pokemon to be of roughly the same 'strenght' as their normal teams right? If you select that option Lance will have pokemon like Scizor and Garchomp instead of completely random pokemon.

Is this the right place to ask Bros for eggs so I can do an egglocke run in Y?

Rules I'm planning on using are:

As soon as you catch the first pokemon in an area, exchange it for an egg in the pc.

Faint = die.

Can keep catching and exchanging but cannot modify party unless someone dies.

Wipeout = game over regardless of box population.

Party level cannot exceed gym leader level, turn off EXP share accordingly.

No items in battle.

Battle style set.

Pokemon cannot learn TM/hold items/stone (or item/trade) evolve without participating in at least one gym battle.

Egg pokemon level is caught pokemon level. (Am going to need a lot of rare candies. Already grinded WT in another game so I can just trade there to level up.

Any more suggestions?
