The go-to speedrunning Pokemon is Nidoking. Most speedruns use Squirtle because he gets bubble at level 8, use bubble to beat Brock, then use Nidoking for the entire rest of the game.

No, only in Red and Blue. In FRLG, they skip the middleman and just plow through the game with Blastoise. The other two starters are both really shitty for speedrunning.
