The multiverses in the games are different game cartridges. If it isn't obvious. So there are thousands of Arceus, Just depends on who owns one. As for Cannon directly relating to the game. Im pretty sure most myths are exdurated like religions.

Its more likely that Arceus belonged to a relative of AZ. Or perhaps another ancestor of a greatly powerful influential character. All the legendaries and mythical pokemon were used by people. Including Arceus. It is likely that many legendary pokemon found their way to earth by human and pokemon colonization of it.

In the distant past, it is likely that people used portal pokemon to find Earth, then used the Teraforming legendaries to make it habitable.

Arceus is a portal pokemon, and is able to pull people pokemon and objects from other locations in space and time like Hoopa or Celibi, and there are many Portal pokemon.

That is how Arceus *creates* pokemon in the first place. he pulls them from a portal and they always appear as an egg. Even Arceus itself was pulled VIA a portal from a portal pokemon to get to Earth.

Talking about pokemon here, in the game every universe is a different game cartrige. This is emphasized in ORAS when the " Link cable" is used to generate a portal to another world to send the asteroid in.

Link cables were used back in the day to trade from one world ( universe) to the next. From red to blue to yellow to silver to gold to crystal to sapphire and ruby. The other universes are clearly places we can see individually because if i trade from my game to your game its traveling from one universe to the next. To the NPCs that are just bits of code as well as the lore written externally and implanted within the game. The NPCs can talk about multiverses all they want and being as infinite or what ever. There are still only a specific amount of games created. So we know its not infinite. But lore wise, the characters don't know that. We know that but they don't. There is even breaking of the 4th wall in these games that acknowledge that it is clearly a player/person who is playing.

Some of the progammed gamed designers based on real people put some dialogue in there that show it. But beyond that. Its nothing more or nothing less. It's not that complicated to understand.
