GRENINJA HAS THE BRACELET ON DURING THE VS SHOTA AND VS DIANTHA BATTLE, IT'S NOT CLEAR ENOUGH TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT IT HAS ON DURING THE VS ALAN FIGHT!

So here's my theory, the edgy Ash picture is pretty straight forward. Remember how we thought Ash was going to be KO'd when Greninja got Blast Burned? Well this is what we should expect to happen, something is going to go wrong during Ash and Alans next fight which will lead to Ash getting wrecked and going through intense pain. The black splotch in the top left picture looks quite a bit like a blood splatter doesn't it?

This will lead to Clemont developing this bracelet and Alan possibly letting Clemont examine it so that he can replicate or make a makeshift version of a mega ring.

Ash asks Serena if she's thinking about her next performance. She says that it's something like that. Ash and her have parallels drawn when he says that he's like that with battles. When he loses, he starts thinking about his next fight right away. Ash also asks about Serena's wrist, and Serena comments on Ash always looking ahead.

[Yashio/Serena at Car]
Serena declines Yashio's invitation to be her protege at the time. She says that her journey with the others has helped her develop, and that until she finishes, she can't go with Yashio. Serena is told by Yashio to go continue her journey and give her a call once she's satisfied.

[Millefeui and Serena from OP]
Millefeui tells Serena to make some progress with Ash.

People who speak Japanese seem to think that Serena will stay in Kalos in the end based on the context and tone of her conversation with Yashio. I personally think she'll have an episode at the end of the series where she'll be conflicted about leaving Ash, and he'll encourage her to follow her dreams and that they'll always be able to meet again.

This is how we know Serena is 95% likely to not be staying with Ash at the end of XYZ.

Now the status quo has been broken before and if it was again to have her stay with him that would be wonderful. But with how anime in general is, especially the Pokemon anime, this is flag that shows the end of a characters time.

What will likely happen is what has been said before, she'll have trouble deciding between Ash and her goal and will likely be talked into it by Ash himself that she should follow her dreams because they'll always be together in some fashion.

Sadly that is the case. Not sure on whether Origins was a flop or not, but considering how past OVAs and things have done, I would imagine so. It seems what Japan wants as far as the anime goes and what the rest of the world seemingly wants are vastly different, but that's the case for tons of things outside of Pokemon.

The manga while I do enjoy it in spurts, would be nice to see animated, or at the very least to get proper animated stuff like Origins that aren't heavily reduced and condensed. But that's hoping for too much. At least the games are trying to progress and change and adapt, even if it took them close to 20 years.

What does that have to do with anything I said? Japan is contempt with the anime as it is now, a lot of westerners are not and want to see Ash actually keep character development and win a league.

That has nothing to do with the dub at all. There have been plenty of resets on tons of things as far as the anime is concerned. Even if he won a league it doesn't mean his journey has to stop, at all. Look at the Orange League, it's technically filler as far as the game content is concerned, but he won that and kept continuing his journey into other regions leagues and catching those Pokemon, while bringing back old Pokemon as needed. There are times when he keeps character development, but it's ultimately shattered in the next region or midway through it like it's nothing.

The most likely scenario I see happening is this: XY is coming to an end, and Ash will lose the league again (him battling Diantha again so early means no Elite Four). Ash will say he plans to go to the next region while Clemont/Bonnie have to stay in Kalos to run the gym. Serena will be indecisive about going with Ash or calling Yashio. She'll brood about it until Ash comes to ask her what's wrong. She'll tell him about Yashio, and he'll give a speech about following your dreams. Serena will be encouraged and stay in Kalos. They'll promise that it's not good bye forever and to meet again. Serena will at the last second do something "bold" like hugging Ash before running off. And this is the true shame of Pokemon. Even if every single fan on the planet was an adult and had grown up, GameFreak and the anime creators would never adjust and change along with it, they'd keep up the same general gameplay and shenanigans for the anime.

Sure I guess although a lot of the "teasing comedy" kind of falls flat because of Ash and his weird behavior.
