Really, why should Gen 6 be worst gen? I've LOVED it. I started back in 2000 when i was 14 with Blue and played every gen. I think Gen 6 is the most balanced and the one with best features. It somehow lacks with endgame (except Delta chapter, Zinnia is my new pokewaifu) but it's compensated by awesome online and better breeding techniques. Also Pokébank, best way to transfer from gen to gen *ever*.

Gen 5 is one of my favorites but BW2 created the utter bullshit that was the weather metagame and hidden abilities in general were fucked up.

the moral quandaries were N's not yours, it was always apparent that Plasma was in the wrong, but either way their approach/goal was a lot more interesting than every other team ESPECIALLY galactic

Barry was just as annoying in D/P plus your 'friends' in BW leave you alone pretty much after the initial intro, the rest of the characters were great and actually having them go around doing shit was nice vs how they would just sit around doing nothing previously, the Gym leaders/champion especially.

I don;t get why people hate the sprites, it was a nice mix between the classical look and crisp 3D
I found GenIV looked really ugly due to the 3D being a bit shit, not to mention every character's head looked far too massive and the game in general was slow as fuck.

beyond that it had the best post-game, best music and BW limiting you to only that generations 150 or so Pokemon allowed you to try new things and appreciate them more than GenIV where new pokes took a backseat to older ones mostly.

Honestly I think it goes
Gen 2 > Gen 3 > Gen 1 > Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 6

Gen 2 has comfy written all over it and introduced some pretty major features that're still used in every game since like breeding.

Gen 3 had a very nice region (imo, I know not everyone likes Hoenn), and had some great gyms and a decent enough story with by far the best villain teams of the entire series. Plus finding the Regis was fucking hype

Gen 1 had some of the best pokémon designs, had a nice and simple story that didn't insist upon itself through the legendaries, and had some of the best music.

Gen 5 had one of the best stories and had some really interesting ideas, plus it was the first (and so far only generation) where they tried not to rely on Gen 1 to sell it for them.

Gen 4 was just... okay.

And mega evolutions ruined Gen 6 and has made Pokemon feel like something entirely different than what it was before. Now its just a case of "Oh well I'll just mega-evolve my Garchomp and now I can brute force whatever trainer, gym leader or elite 4 member I'm up against", not to mention the rivals were garbage, the worlds were unmemorable, the 3d models were FUCKING TERRIBLE in comparison to the sprites, and the way they were animated (particularly the flying types like Skarmory) was just utter shit.

Gen 6 was by far the worst and I genuinely won't ever understand anyone who claims it's (one of) the best

But they DID a new forest area, it's the route 20 and is called Winding Woods (just after snowbelle city), it has a kinda complex layout and you can get lost for the first time.
By the way I think that the Santalune forest is well positioned, it's just after the second city of the game (Viridian city and Aquacorde town), viridian forest also is mandatory, so I don't think that it should be a secret area.
