This new guy (Shota) has a Sceptile. The opening for the latest season shows that he's going to use Mega Sceptile, although that hasn't happened yet. Shota has actually battled Ash a few times and each time Ash has defeated him without too much trouble. Some people are afraid that they'll have a rematch in the Kalos League (which will probably be later this year) and beat Ash.

Also, Tobias (the guy with the dark hair and dark-colored clothing) appeared in the Sinnoh League. He used a DARKRAI and LATIOS with no explanation whatsoever and he defeated Ash in the Sinnoh League. People were pretty pissed when that happened.

So there Ash was in Sinnoh. He was a great trainer with a bunch of fully evolved Pokemon, he had gotten farther than ever in the League, and all of the E4 appeared throughout the region while revealing how the challenge system works in the anime. People honestly thought Ash was being set up to finally win.

Enter the fucking Darkrai trainer. Ash actually comes up with a decent counter with Sleep Talk Heracross, but still gets half his team wiped out by it anyway. Some hoped that Darkrai might be the only Pokemon on Tobias' team or that everything else he had was weak from neglect, so Ash could still win.

Then this happened.
