I just watched the latest episode and I'm not sure why people were building up what Yashio said to Serena as if it was something bad. She wasn't telling her not to have fun, she just said that she was lacking that special something to beat Elle because like she told Ameila, not even a perfect performance would be enough.

I'm not even going to pretend to know what that something Serena is missing is, but I have a couple of ideas of what it could be. We'll have to wait and see next week.

The entire anime is a ruse, there are no such thing as gym leaders, or elite four, there isn't even a Pokemon league.

It's all one big lie like The Truman Show.

Ash is the main guy in it, and it's based around which girl can win him over.

Delia was the past Bowl winner, impregnated by the previous male. But what happened to the previous one, why is he not around? It's simple, he was eliminated because he was no longer needed, so they somehow altered Delia's memories while Delia remained to raise the new male without questioning what happened to her mate.

All these girls were bred for this, all their parents however, didn't raise them. They were raised by others and are set up to meet Ash at some point. Iris for example, was from some third world shithole country but the one responsible for raising her was shit at her job and didn't bother grooming her into someone Ash would take interest into.

Serena, the current girl, was hyped up to be a prodigy and people seem to think she may be the closest to success.

Simply what happens if Serena wins him over and eventually has a kid with her? He is eliminated, Serena gets her memories altered and Serena raises the kid alone, and eventually, the cycle begins again.

I'm skeptical about the writers going to the trouble of actually having Ash with a girlfriend for a whole region, but if they did go that route, I don't think it'd be as big a deal as people make it out to be. The show is going to be about Pokemon first and foremost, and the main characters rarely need more than basic interactions with one another. Ash is already the nicest he's ever been to a female companion, and Serena is obviously sweet on him. I don't think Ash and Serena would need to act much different than they already do with each other given that it's a kid's show.
