Why are there no good fire options for Mold Breaker mons? I

I'm an idiot that has never really done anything other than CATCH'EM ALL, so now I'm curious.

Is Mold Breaker really useful? What kinda situation?

Negates certain abilities so you can

But outside on 1 or 2 only halfway decent users they're complete shit or have better options.

That's what I've been saying. Closest things are Reshiram and Kyu-W which aren't even usable in OU. I hope Mega Typhlosion or something gets it.

Take for example Kyurem-B.
Teravolt Ice Beam rips through Multiscale and Thick Fat while Teravolt Earth Power does a lot to Rotom-W and Teravolt Fusion Bolt ignores players who try to tease Electric-weak mons and then double into Lightningrod mons.

Then take Mega Gyarados for example. You can Dragon Dance all you want, and Unaware mons cannot ignore the boosts.

There's a somewhat popular strategy of Nasty Plot + Baton Pass Celebi combined with Mega Ampharos that alone beats all of stall, since nothing can restrain it. Skarmory's Sturdy is ignored so Whirlwind attempts that are too late cost the game.

And lastly, one of my favorite uses is with Mold Breaker Stealth Rock mons. :^)

Mold Breaker Excadrill can set up Stealth Rock in Mega Sableye's face, or land a Toxic on it.

The good Mold Breaker mons usually have Fighting moves, making Fire a moot point against Tran

Or Earthquake, and at least one has Water.
Ampharos has a rock move and a fighting move, but why would you use fire on 'tran anyway? The only way a fire-type would want mold breaker to hit 'tran is if they're Pyroar (which is garbage) or Char-X.

And look, Reshiram/Kyurem-W exist so. it's just a shame resh is locked up in Ubers

Oh fuck off heatran is one of the most easily worn down pokemon in the game. A 4x weakness, two significant ordinary weaknesses, neutral to rocks and affected by spikes, no recovery and often foregoes leftovers for air balloon. Just keep hitting it as it does nothing since it's passive as fuck.

I really enjoyed OHKOing people's Dragonites through multi scale with Ampharos before people started realising what mold breaker does

It actually is pretty useful. There are a lot of regular Pokemon that rely on self defensive abilities to get by, once that is removed from them they become near useless.

Unfortunately, a lot of the stronger Pokemon now carry abilities that either indirectly alter damage taken or don't at all, which is part of the reason why Reshiram may seem lackluster now.

There is ample opportunity now for a new ability that ignores abilities that heighten damage output like Tough Claws and Huge Power.

It's not that people are out there trying to take out Heatran w/ fire moves, it's that Mold Breaker would eliminate Heatran as a safe switch-in
