Most of the original sprites for trainers also have whips, which were supposed to be used to some extent too.

Implementing that system would be nice, limiting it up to 5 mons that can be stolen, however people would probably get butthurt if their starter or shiny would get stolen.

I mean, a lot of what's said is KINDA true. Like Mirror move does use the opponent's last move, so the dragonite would be hit by a hyper beam. Pichu is an evolution in the line of Raichu. Raichu does learn body slam with TM08, etc.
