heliolisk is an amazing pokemon, though, being an electric type with an immunity to water. this means is completely blocks bulky water types. while bulky waters are not the same as they used to be in OU, they're still on the rampant in UU, and heliolisk checks them. it also has amazing coverage, including a STAB move that bypasses substitutes, grass knot, surf, focus blast, dark pulse and hidden power. it can also run gimmicky sets on both sun and rain. it's overall a very versatile pokemon, though the immunity to water is what really makes it stand out against some shitmon like jolteon or raichu, of course only in UU.
in doubles it can be used even more effectively thanks to weather and surf being more common there.
