Educate us on the biological matter of this picture then please, buttscab.
>>
>>24615349
Sure! It's supposed to look like one of those early phylogenetic trees with lots of pictures of pokemon and the person who made it decided to go quantity over quality. It's fun to try to sort pokemon out in this way but some aren't really based on any animal (like Froslass) so it's tough to find places for them. For example, they listed the Lileep line as Cnidaria (probably thinking they're based off of sea anenomes) even though they resemble crinoids more (which are echinoderms) and there's nothing that suggests that their little feelers are shock-y like the ones sea anenomes have.

But if I'm being honest, I admire their dedication and they probably got more right than most pokemon fans would.

Hope that was helpful!

This one is actually pretty damn good on a biological level. As you said some of the few problems like Cradily aren't because of lack of taxonomical knowledge but rather misinterpreting Cradily's origin. Although I have no idea how he sees Golem as a lizard and not a turtle.
The rest of the odd ones, like making plant pokémon closer related to stones than other eukaryotes , or placing ghosts between vertebrates and other animals aren't really biological errors either.

This always pisses me off, butterfree was not and is not supposed to be from venonat. The caterpie line is based off of the swallowtail butterfly's life stages, as the caterpillar looks exactly like caterpie, horns and all, the metapod looks exactly like the chrysalis, and the butterfree looks exactly like the butterfly. It's even worse than the over 9000 myth, since the original airing was "over 8000".

You're dumb as bricks. The reason is that suigomoroi intended butterfree to be the 2nd evolution form of venonat, but it was later changed to be the final evolution of caterpie to coincide with the anime.

It's better in terms of placing inorganic pokémon like those based on stone or ice and such, and legendaries. But regular pokémon with real-life organic counterparts are way worse placed.
>>
>>24616413
nah. apart from perissodactyls, they did a pretty good job with fish, reptiles, dinosaurs, birds and most mammals compared to op. see: >>24616371

>>

are you blind? pangolins ARE pretty close to ferans in that pic
>>
>>24616728
Whops, my mistake, sorry.
Although the other post has some pretty weird claims too, like munna not being a tapir.
There is also no real problem with Gardevoir being a spirit while Mr. Mime is a hominid given the egg groups.
>>
>>24616371
Don't forget
>Swirlix, Klink, Magnemite, and Koffing are manmade
>>
>>24616765
I agree that Swirlix is stupid as fuck. But I don't really see it as that illogical that perhaps Klink, Magnemite and Koffing are man.made, since Voltorb and Grimer are. Although unintentionally.
>>
>>24616765
i can understand those somewhat since they can be associated with human activity (still pretty stupid tho)
>>
>>24616780
Klink and Koffing would make sense as freak accidents, as Klink suddenly showed up only one hundred years ago in canon, and Koffing looks like an explosive.

Magnemite may be natural though, since they're shown participating in the Kalos war alongside AZ's Floette. The technology back then seemed less polished visually than the sleek Magnemite line (Golurk, Ultimate Weapon, etc.), so I feel like they might just be a weird metal creature like Klefki.
>>
>>24616688
>Chimcar, Monferno and Inferape aren't even listed as actual apes
apes are tailless, so I can see why their not
>>
>>24615428
Where's Dunsparce in the OP pic?
>>
>>24616371
I can see why Lickitung would be under amphibian since it looks like a tree frog. Even though tree frogs are considered amphibians, they are pretty different in how they don't have tadpole stages, and they prefer to stay on land in dry areas to eat.
>>
>>24616964
Except Lickytung has a giant tail and doesn't look much like a frog.

There were originally 190 Pokémon, but 40 were removed in development, leaving empty slots which redirected to the MissingNo. error message when called. Mew was later inserted into the first empty space, which is why it's so early in the table despite having expkictly been stated to have been added late.

Colubrid snakes like serperior and onyx are found farther back in the evolutionary tree than Elapids (Arbok) and Viperids (Serviper and Ekans).
