Here's the rundown on what okapis are:
>They look like a mix between a horse, zebra and deer, but are closely related to none of them. It is the closest living relative to giraffes.
>They live deep in the mountain-forests of central Africa, where they forage over a hundred different types of plants, many of which are poisonous to many animals.
>They are notoriously solitary and elusive, and were not even discovered by the western world until 1901. They are shy and have great camoflauge.
>Their tongues are freakily long. They groom themselves with them and use them to grab leaves. They're prehensile.
>Their coats are like velvet and repel water, due to living in dense rainforests.
>They're larger than they look. Okapis can get over 5ft tall at the shoulders.

Their fur is dark red, so I feel like they might be Fire types. I am not someone who has been clamoring for this type combo at all, but I feel they'd probably be Grass/Fire.
Overall okapis are inherently weird and interesting creatures and I think they should be a Pokémon, much in the same vein as Girafarig. Maybe a distant ancestor.

Believe it or not the new are will be based of South Asia and there will be a goat starter, the fire type. It's also a fairy type (dont know why they pick fairy for the starters). There is also a coffee bar or something in the Pokémon center. The hotel we saw in the trailer is not a hotel, it's an aquarium (not important but whatever). Oh and the story is gonna connect kalos too. They are not leaving zygarde without a game. Pokémon ammie is out (thank god) and there is a new method to train your ev(thank God again). I guess there will be new mechanics for the "not 7 gen " fans because it's 7th gen and I am also guessing that johto starters are getting mega too. And the camera angle in the Pokémon center is behind the player (not important again).
