What exactly is wrong with being exclusionary? Why is it that nearly every facet of modern life is being tailored to be inclusive?

Because human beings are social creatures by nature. It's like how most facets are also tailored towards heterosexuals that has homosexuals asking why can't there be more stuff tailored towards gays. Being socially interactive and attracted to the opposite sex is considered normal default behavior.

It's a consumerism thing I think. All businesses are built to be as inclusive as possible to generate as much profit as possible, and because free market capitalism is still the dominant ideology of the age our other institutions reflect that. Although there's probably also elements of liberal democracy (which like to be broad and open) in there.
I don't know, our society generally values inclusion over exclusion. Probably for the best, if you were going to decide to weight it one way or the other.
