Why is there so much hate for weebs on 4chan lately? It seems like for the last couple of months even mentioning anime will guarantee a reply from smug faggot calling you a weeaboo. Is this some new form of trolling or just people being cancer?

The election and Trump's victory brought a lot of people to the site who have no connection to anime. Sure there's a minority of Trump awoo posters but they were just that minority. They're here for politics and memes, not anime. They react to anime like they react to atheism, they mock it as something only manchildren will participate in.

I just finished flip flappers.
It was very stylistically well done, but incredibly shallow.

Neither of these are crossboarder shows. No one on the internet besides /a/ cared about Flip Flappers. Jojo yes, and Trigger to a lesser extent.
>>54445
And there has always been a hate for "weebs" on other boards. If I recall correctly, /v/ used to dubs-spam Neptunia threads. Don't know if they still do. When /q/ was around (rest in piss), half the threads were borderline non-functionals whining about /a/ or anime. Unless you browse redditboards like /tv/ almost exclusively, I'd say that the opinion of anime has changed for the better.
>>54450
You are hands-down the worst avatarfag on /vip/.
>>54449
Funny enough they'd probably like anime if they just gave it a chance. Lost of right-wingers like it because it's totally removed from Western identity politics and isn't constantly trying to shove a message down your throat.

He's also the bestOnly because he's the only avatarfag on /vip/
>>54508
Most people on /vip/ have at least read the global site rules, I'd imagine
>>54509
No doubt about it
>>54445
you know why
>>54445
since there are so many users who dont watch anime and who think that all anime discussion should remain on /a/ (one of the containment boards), and since most users rightly associate /a/ with Autism, you're going to get called a weeaboo.
this isn't a new thing. the only difference now is that there is a new influx of children. it's just something you have to live with.
>>54506
considering the user base of this board and how often i have seen complaints about it, aren't you the only one who cares?
>>54445
>be weeb
>lowkey hate myself
>see an anon post animu
>familiarity breeds contempt

Reddit was obsessed with it.

>containment board
>a
one of these things is not like the other
>>54677
oh but it is. there are regular users who can be good sports and talk about shit, and then there are the ones who try to disprove your opinion. sure, it's up for debate, but it's stupid. the only people who really care about this shit is children who don't know how to just not give a fuck, which is likely the reason they're on /a/ to begin with.
>>54669
I wouldn't know, I don't go to reddit.
>>54620
I think it's this desu. Posters reminding me of myself piss me the fuck off.
Normalfag conformism.
I've noticed over the past few years, many users have become conformist, or many new conformist users have joined. And conformism is a normalfag trait.
newfags who dont realize that 4chan is litearlly built on weebs
I hate how all these American (a few British and Canadian, but mostly American) anime fans are the same kind of people who incessantly post those stupid Twitter memes and use the abbreviated forms of "to be honest", "family", and "though" (there are probably other idiotic meme abbreviations, but I don't care to learn them), and at the same time call others "weebs" (never "weaboo", because they don't know the full word) because they have a monkey-see-monkey-do mentality and no respect for those interested in anything beyond the shows currently airing.
>>56582
They are utilizing irony to communicate their ongoing battle with depression
>>56584
I realize that, but they have plenty of places to do that outside of anime discussion areas.
>>56582
There's a weird double standard here in America where there are cartoons for adults and animation is still seen as for mature people especially if it's comedy. Meanwhile if you watch anything with a plot like anime then you must whack it exclusively to tentacle porn because porn culture in America was pretty weird in early internet culture and Americans can't disassociate porn from reality.
>>56582
I know. All I want out of /a/ is some other people to gush about how I discovered anime with. Renting DVDs at Blockbuster, discovering internet streams by trying to catch up on missed episodes of Naruto, finding new and exciting titles everywhere I looked. Now it's just a bunch of highly opinionated, obstinate, weeaboos who just regurgitate whatever string of words is trendy to say. I've all but given up on it entirely.
