It's like people somehow forget that about a third of Mexico is literally controlled by cartels and not by the Mexican government, and that the cartels are funded mostly by smuggling drugs and other things across the US border (some other prominent examples include stolen vehicles and electronics but nobody ever talks about that shit for whatever reason)

Fuck, building a wall will probably help Mexico more in the long run than it will the US. It kind of makes me scratch my head as to why they don't want to at least help pay for it or why they haven't tried to build a wall on their border before this. It bludgeons a variety of birds bird with one stone.

Is it just that unpopular of a policy for them to try to secure their border? Are they afraid of what reaction the cartels will have to the policy? Is this just posturing on their end?

Three would be to cut down the amount of dependents present in welfare systems and reduce the amount of people who are depended on public services. Suffice it to say that immigrants, especially illegal immigrants tend to place a larger burden on these systems than the average natural born citizen unless the immigrants in question posses very valuable skills.

Four would be to hopefully help stabilize Mexico a bit which would be beneficial in the long run as if they can stabilize they could become much more valuable trading partners than they are now.

I could continue, but I think I've made my point. Really the general shit doesn't matter, because in the end the devil is in the margins here. The real question is will this be a net gain or a net loss in the long run. Nobody fucking knows how it's gonna turn out in the long run. If we did then I wouldn't have a reason to type this all out in the first place. Still, there are a lot of people who think the potential gains justify the financial risk of this project though, myself included.

Aluminum cased ammunition has *some* popularity for handgun and shotgun (doesn't work as well for rifles, due to the much higher pressures), due to low cost. Aluminum is one of those metals which is really easy to recycle and which there's genuinely good value in doing so (3/4ths of America's aluminum production is recycled), and since you can't reload aluminum cases, you could just melt them down for scrap like any other aluminum waste.

Issue with aluminum cases is that some guns just don't "like" the stuff, however, so I wonder what other routes you could go to make a lower cost case, it would have to be a metal which would allow for obturation (gas sealing), as well as a heat sink. Steel is low in cost, and if you have it annealed it can work pretty reasonably in many guns (again, many types of guns will just not like the stuff), though it can accelerate wear, and it's really not worth recycling, at least not for it's base material.

Honestly I don't think you could make a good casing out of hemp compound, but for the bullet itself, you could make a jacket.

The itself bullet is usually cast out of lead, and it's covered in what's called a jacket, which makes it more solid for penetration. Generally the jacket of a bullet should be a metal which is somewhat soft, so that the spiral cut pattern in the gunbarrel (called rifling), can dig into the bullet and force it to spin, giving the bullet a gyroscopic spin is what makes it accurate. Nylon, or a theoretical hemp compound, could have the right rigidity to do the same thing as copper.

You can do this without a jacket, just a pure lead bullet, but it will get dirty faster, because lead will wear off into the barrel. Generally making a bullet jacket out of aluminum would be questionable at best.

The casing is what it sounds like, it's what contains the powder load, the primer, and what holds the bullet.
While brass is what's commonly used (because it works the best), aluminum can be a low cost alternative, as can steel. Brass casings can be recycled by the user (clean them up, trim them slightly and load new powder, primer and a bullet in it), steel casings are generally considered not to be worth reusing due to the extra wear on your tools, and aluminum casings can't be reused at all.

Bullets themselves could be dug up from the ground and reused (because it's ridiculously easy to melt down and recast lead), some gunranges will dig up their shooting berms to gather up lead that's been collected in there over long periods of time.
