It's only a tiny JPG thumbnail unless you intentionally open it, and if you open it, the difference between downloading 3MB and 4MB isn't too big a delay. 4MB and sound enabled makes it worth the wait.

This makes no sense. The difference between 3MB and 4MB is an extra 33%. That's not “too big a delay”, that's a whole fucking third.

Also, that argument goes both ways. If you think the difference between 3MB and 4MB is negligible for transfer, then it should also be negligible for quality. Does the extra 33% bitrate really make your video suddenly more worth watching than before?

Finally, whether or not sound is enabled has nothing to do with it because the sound will take up nowhere near 25% of the space of a file.

I mostly post in /wsg/ lately. The extra bitrate is nice, but the sound being enabled there is what I miss here.

And if the connection is so 56k that whenever you open a webm you have to wait and wait and wait for it to finish, then we've already established you're in for a wait. The question is how much. And it still won't affect how fast it is to navigate anything because only thumbnails load until you decide to click on a webm and open it for playback.

But mostly I just want sound enabled here.
