This debate will change nothing. By now, most people have made up their minds. I wouldn't blame them, as these are two of the worst presidential candidates that we've had in the US. They are the result of decades of Boomer bureaucracy and crony capitalism.

The worst part is, they represent the wants of the American People, a frightening reflection into what our "culture" has become. We had the posterboy do-nothing republican establishment candidates blown away like paper by the might and charisma of a real estate tycoon and TV star and we had a fight between a deluded champagne socialist and one of the most corrupt politicians in modern world history, with the latter winning and the former kowtowing before her.

Both would be equally terrible leaders, though Trump is the more assertive, rambunctious candidate and probably would make things a little more interesting.

The thing to understand about politics is that it's basically a code word for mass psychology

Combine democracy and capitalism and you end up optimizing towards parties capable of winning votes (at all costs). Nothing more, nothing less.

The current state of the U.S. political system is pretty much the living proof of that. The politics are irrelevant at this point, what matters is the entertainment and advertising value of the respective campaigns. We will vote for the candidate that leaves the most lasting impression.
