I wonder how many people total I've interacted with on 4chan in the past decade
>>
>>11588
Just me.
>>
>>11613
I find that hard to believe friendo
It's probably been a hundred thousand I bet
>>
>>11588
>>11613
It's all in your head
>>
>>11588
Probably thousands.
Now a better question would be how many of those people were influenced by you?

I can recall a few posts from a decade ago that completely changed me.
>>
>>11683
Care to share an example?
>>
I'd probably pass out if I ever saw how many hours I've spent browsing 4chan
>>
>>11683
>I can recall a few posts from a decade ago that completely changed me.
Same. Really amazing how people I know nothing about and will (probably) never interact with again changed the course of my life. I like to think I've had the same effect on at least a few people
>>
>>11717
Eh if you enjoy it then it is time well spent. My philosophy at least

/b/, 10 years ago, I saw some dude write imdoinitrite and I thought he was talking about minerals until I read the word slowly. That's when I knew there were things that I did not understand about the world.
>>
>>11588
Its all only been me
>>

Holy shit, that's actually pretty funny. No offense intended, I just never thought of the word that way
>>
>>11785
I forgot to add that the creator himself randomly replied to me after using the incorrect picture and complained that it had a typo and made me delete the old one.
>>
>>11785
>That made me realize there's a lot of OC that creators regret making.
4chan symbolises this for me. Look at moot's life, then look at what he's done and what he'll never be able to escape from.

Some teenage decisions are permanent

I was expecting some of you guys to go to your reaction image folder to confirm that you have the typo version of that picture but no one did, oh well.
>>
>>11862
I have a confession to make...

My reaction image folder is unsorted..

.... and big
>>
>>11887
Same. It has over 7k images, it's hopeless

That's what she said.

Thank you dude, I tried real hard on that one.

That's part of the nature of putting something out there into the public domain. I remember in a thread a while back on /a/, people were complaining about /r9k/-style bitterness had ruined ronery threads. Somebody responded saying he was sorry for ever making the popular Adachi 'bitches and whores' edit.

No way to know if he was being truthful or not, but part of me likes to think he was.

I did some cleanup on this pic pretty shortly after I posted the original one and I don't think I've ever seen anything but that shittier version posted

I-I'm sorry anon, I'm not autistic enough to manually tag all of my images

I do use tags for porn though, imported from gelbooru.

currently 3 million pictures archived
>>
>>12681
just use hydrus with the PTR. I just have other people tag my stuff for me

Roughly seven or so.

I'm surprised you can remember things like that. I feel like I have such poor memory, particularly because I spent a shitload of time doing nothing as a kid, so nothing to remember. I didn't get to train making memories correctly, if that's at all a thing.

I'm sure I've been changed by posts on here, but it's impossible to know. My mind's like a cloud floating towards sunset, changed by every little molecule of air, but with no way to trace what led it to where it is and where it's going.
>>
>>12689
I looked into hydrus but it was such a bitrotten mess of terrible python code that I decided to implement my own tagging system from scratch

Maybe I could find a way to connect it with hydrus though
>>
>>11588
Three. Me, you, and the other guy.
>>
Probably no one since they don't reply to me.
>>
>>12708
That's not so much because your memory is poor, that's because you have too much to remember and you don't care about most things. People who pay attention to small details and remember them decades later usually have nothing more interesting going on.

Something fascinating that I read some time ago is that our concept of time and memory is pretty weird.

You know how time flies when you're having fun, like when >>>/vip/ is created and you're up for 24 hours in a row having a blast from the past?

Despite time seeming to move the most quickly, it's during this time that we form the most memories - so when we reflect on it later, they are the events that we will remember in the greatest detail and clarity, and therefore perceive them as having been longer than they actually were.

In other words; if you're having fun, time flies in the moment, but years down the line it will seem like longer than it was. This is why your childhood summers seem to last for eternities, because you were having so much fun. Time was really flying for you at the time, though.

If you can't remember a period of your life, it's because you didn't have any memorable events. If that's constantly the case, you need to find more fun things to do with your life.
>>
>>14661
The same is true of trauma.

Memory is comparable to a bad compression algorithm. We lump stuff that's similar into one giant indistinguishable blob, but events that are different stick out to us and get saved separately. One drive to work is generally not different from all other drives to work, but a car crash is unique. So we don't remember the drive, but we do remember the crash.
