Well apparently /v/ didn't care about God Hand anymore when I tried this thread yesterday, but maybe /vint/ does. This game is pretty tough, how do I get good? What techniques are an absolute must?
It has been years since the last time I played God Hand, but based on my experience I can say that you should stick to a moveset you feel comfortable with, even if it isn't the most optimal one. You should keep the starting guard-break attack, given how fast it is compared to the ones you learn.
Also, learn to time your up-dodges. They aren't indispensable to finish the game but certain boss is harder without it (the old master).

That game has the best hand-to-hand combat system ever created for a videogame.

I always thought /v/'s obsession with this mediocre game was an ironic meme.

chain yanker is pretty good since its a confirmed dizzy and you can build god hand meter by cancelling the yes man kablam into the mash
almost anything that hits multiple times and is quick is probably good, and you should always have a guard breaker on circle or triangle for easy access
