Why would anyone care about a sci-fi story that doesn't involve Earth or saving humanity and doesn't even take place in our own galaxy?

Literally only Star Wars was able to pull this off, and only because it basically injected humans as the most populous species in its galaxy anyway.

Yes.

"Reimagining" a setting doesn't work. Ever. Remakes, reboots and re-whatever are always, always worse than the originals which is really saying something considering ME2 was fucking retarded, and ME3 shat the bed.

Bioware should have just left it alone.
