Okay but why was I able to get into Awakening and not this?
When I'm not playing them I'm fully aware that both games are soulless waifubait, but for whatever reason, when I play Awakening, outside of the DLC and spotpass missions I'm mostly able to ignore that dreadful feeling that what I'm playing is more of a "product" than a "creative work". I can't really do this with Fates and I suspect it's one of or a combination of the following
>knowing this game got a character in smash prior to release just to advertise it
>knowing this game was split into two just to make more money off of it
>knowing this game had a bad localization
>about a dozen characters that are just hentai tropes made PG-13 and not much beyond that
>plot/protag so bad you can't ignore
>protag this bad but still trying to be a player insert and failing as badly as you possibly can

All that said I'm still not even sure if I'd call Fates a bad game, just bad in a lot of aspects past gameplay. Gameplaywise its only problem is how easy it is, and I found Awakening relatively enjoyable so clearly that's not a top concern.

Corrin is the worst lord though, bar none.

Main things are the main characters, the plot and the world building (which is non-existant in Fates), but neither of those are particularly great either. I find the characters are generally about equal.

And honestly, the old games weren't as much better as people like to say, at least not many of them. The difference is that instead of being overly tropey like Fates AND Awakening, they were more boring and lacking personality traits.

Fates characters are more assholes than goofy wierdos, only Revelations makes the party actually feel that they are actually siding with you and not you siding with Hoshido/ Nohr, all three stories are painful to read, and there is little to no character interaction.
