I literally have no idea whatr I am supposed to do with curses on a power/crit build except the small traits.
I'd much rather invest in Death Magic or Soul Reaping for increased survivability and more LF. The XIII trait fo Death Magic seems hella cool especially for staying power.

I used to play a ranged hybrid thing, the "nemesis" build, where you would stack bleeds then switch to axe for burst damage. Survivability with this glass melee build actually some how seems much higher. I can rip through mobs in Orr like nothing and actually solo champion mobs which I something I was never able to do before while leveling as a condition build or playing endgame with the hybrid.

Server in this game only matters for World vs World, which is sort of like this game's open world PvP.
All the good servers are full, so it doesn't really matter what else you pick since anyone from any other server can join a party with you and you'll end up in the same game area. It's all megaservers now.
As for class, anything is fine except for Necromancer and Ranger. Ranger is maybe sort of okay if you're really hard set on playing that archetype but I would avoid it. Necromancer is largely considered to be a useless class outside of the fact that it can do damage. Everyone can do damage, necro brings no group utility or buffs.

In this game, overleveling is irrelevant because a level 80 can go into the starter zone and he'll be automatcially scaled down to that level.
His gear will still be relevant though, probably destroy the mobs due to being in full exotics, but then again a level 8 in full exotics would also destroy those mobs.

To add a bit of context, the difference between doing a task at-level and doing it at twice that level is like 7% of the experience to level up versus 6%. Rather than REMOVING all stats, all stats from Traitlines should be traitline-exclusive. Stats like Condition/Boon duration should not be on equipment, maybe on consumables.
Also maybe a few new skills like Condition Crit, that makes critical hits also apply 50% more conditions, at 6 points in the line the chance is 100%
Or condition persistence that gives conditions a chance to resist being removed and to consume more than 1 charge of defiance on bosses.
Stuff that actually CHANGES how a character is played rather than stack the equivalent of 2 rings onto an already massive statpool.

We do all sorts of things like jumping puzzles IC, and openworld dungeon relic hunts.
How most people joined ICly, was getting a note/letter from a mystery man and they all wound up following clues to a lodge. None of them know his identity, but that's part of some loose overarching plot.
If you're looking for a breath of fresh air from the people that sit in cities all day, you'd do well to meet the people here.

While this is great and all you still can't dye weapons/backpieces and >90% of the skins are just designed for humans and stretched over the other race models lazily, resulting in horrible texture quality and looks. Mainly two builds:

Extreme condi pressure and survivability with staff AA spamming clones, can be specced to have condition burst as well with torment shatter. It's not very good against organized teams (thanks to shared condi cleans and such) but godtier in pugs and nigh unbeatable in 1v1. The PU variant is especially shunned because it's cheesy as shit.
>Power
Power shatter build. It's the 'hardmode' of PvP if this game has one. It's similar to a thief with higher risk and a higher range. That and a way steeper learning curve. It's great when played right but also has counters, 1v1 players of equal skill thief will always win because they got more stealth, blinds and evades.

Leveling mesmer is ass, focus offhand will give you decent swiftness at least, 10% more when combined with that boon duration sig. Spam blink and at lvl 80 if you want to do mapping, grabbing centaur runes and spamming mantra heal will give you infinite swiftness.
In PvE you are looking for sword, focus and pistol/sword for another phantasm for times where you dont need reflects. The ranged weapons aren't that good in PvE.
For PvP staff is your main condi weapon and GS is your main power weapon. The only weapon that has no use in PvP is sword offhand and even that is not really that bad, the other options just happen to be more desirable.
