See most of the efficacity of the elves come from their skill (and stuff too) and most raised undead, if you don't put a lot of energy and effort in it don't keep their previous life skill and Elf body aren't really resiliant. Dwarf natural resilience to magic make them slightly harder to raise too; and the other dwarf WILL be made about this.

So yeah, raising human is simpler, bring less trouble and can be more effective ! And on top of that, you find a LOT more human body than elf or dwarf body.

I had this very same mentality but in all due honesty, whats the point of fighting shit battles? It will cost you lots of time in the campaign.

I also play as "gobbo shit". Playing as gobbos you simply cant afford auto resolve against the dwarfs most of the time because if you dont have a decent armor piercing army and plan careful you will lose (one of the hardest campaigns of the game if not the hardest).

Both total war and stellaris are good games but they are very different from one another.

I was very hesitant about warhammer tw first (fantasy lol) but I have to say its the best tw I played so far and even more fun than stellaris. Theres something about the uniqueness of factions and the required tactics to deal with each one individually. Specially the existence of hordes just like that expansion from Rome I and other assorted mechanics like vampiric corruption and fightiness. I absolutely love that.

I remember doing an Oda playthrough and using almost nothing but ashigaru spears and archers.

It's pretty bland visually but on the other hand I like the fact that the crap basic units remain a viable choice throughout the whole game. After all historically the bulk of most armies was composed of peasant conscripts rather than knights and samurai in shiny armor.

How do you make Helblasters work properly? So far when I've been using them it feels like they do very little damage for their cost, then the lines meet and they're useless for the rest of the battle unless there's a large target swanning about. Meanwhile my handgunners are vomiting fire everywhere because they have the mobility to run to the flanks of a combat and shred the enemy units engaged in it.

Is there some trick to it that I'm missing?

I did. This time I just took my reinforcements and hugged the map border while Ostermark gibbed their army against chaos. Karl used that distraction to go on a solo mission and killed four hellcannon fuckers before they could shoot anything actually important.

I was able to just hold the line while my few ranged units picked off the chaos giants one by one. I also sent off a few units so I could maybe get better ones and my demigryphs deigned to make an appearance so things worked out.

Ostermark's faction leader actually survived his army getting trounced and wound up dueling Archaeon. He got beaten, but it gave me time to shoot the shit out of buckethead before Franz showed back up and hit him with his dumb big bird cat.

6/10 at least it wasn't pyrrhic

There is no siege equipment during them, and they are supposedly very difficult. Doesn't sound fun honestly, but hopefully there'll be some nice assets in them so modders have more tools to somewhat unfuck the sieges in this little mini-series over the coming years.

This was probably one of the most fun battles I've ever had in TWW. Really close, was funny seeing the vargulf get shot to pieces at the start. Lots and lots of awakening in the wood spam and the heal shield. All in all, heresy cleansed, flagellants had a good day.

I think I just realized something for the first time in hundreds of hours of playing Total War.

When a unit routes it seems to be on a sort of timer based on enemy proximity for whether or not it will rally. I just broke a unit of archers with two units of archers constantly firing on them, and they rallied WHILE under fire and taking losses from those same units.

What's more, because they rallied while still under fire, their unit was completely obliterated before they could break again due to how this system seems to work. Fucking stupid.
