Chosen actually cut my supplies to 12 a month at one point in time, had to rely on Council missions and Supply Raids to make it. Advent armor and weapon stacks with Grim Horizon would be fucking cancerous also if you get the one where you never start with concealment.

Sell everything on the Avenger that isn't nailed down on the black market, and then buy the supplies the black market offers each month. Skullmine like a fiend to replace the intel you spend on supplies each month.

Depends on how strong you are. If you get the Reaper order that lest you delay timers, you can probably handle the 1-2 extra turns it takes to kill them, and you probably want to avoid civvies anyway. If not, though, unless you breeze through mission timers it's sort of a big risk.

Yep. The wounds don't dock you in the ship THAT long, because you're healed by half at the end of a mission. Tiredness doesn't seem to be that much of an issue so maybe they adjusted that too.

Still tactically, at the beggining, killing a pod as soon as it shows up, at least in commander difficulty, isn't really that much of a thing. Closest I've got involved a trooper and a sectoid hanging out near an explosive barrel while I had a reaper. And even then, the sectoid made it out with 1HP.

The DLC story missions are cut if you have the "Integrated DLC" option checked when you start the game. Rulers guard Avatar Facilities initially before randomly appearing as normal and the SPARK shows up as a Proving Ground project. There are balance reasons behind it, although I have yet to hear a good explanation of what they are.

This mission has had more berserkers than you can possibly imagine. It has been a huge shitshow, my 34hp Mox got mind controlled and then he got dropped down to 1hp by fucking resistance members.

This fucking Warlock is anything but passive, he is not like Beagle's cucklock, this nigga is running all over the place shooting his gun, overwatching, summoning shit and scorching people every single time.

And my civilians are pretty much all dead, berserkers kept going into their little cuckshed to smash them, and good luck killing a 48hp Berserk with mag weapons before it kills a bunch of civvies, at one point my Spark and the Warlock were in the roof, until a Faceless climbed up, hit them both, destroyed the roof and all 3 fell on more civilians killing them.

Using a specific order when its a complete RNG which you end up getting and I always end up with useless shit like +10% exp and +2 avenger power ... is difficult. I know there are ways to mitigate it, I just dont see how people could survive some missions where I got to the end with like 1/5th of time left on double timer.

This is what pisses me off. I know that doing every language could be costly, but you can easily sub different languages. For example: My Brazilian troops speak Spanish because it is close enough, so Portuguese isn't very important. However, if you included Russian it could be used for any Polish, Ukrainian, or Russian troops. Chinese could work for any Chinese, Japanese, or Korean troops.

It just seems strange that they wouldn't bother including these sort of languages that cover an entire region, but would include something specific like Italian. Even French is more useful because you can use French for African troopers.

It's because the different languages available are just the various other localizations of XCOM. Hence why Italian is always available.

If it bothers you that much get the International Language/Voice pack since it brings back EW's Russian/Polish voices and adds in a handful of new languages.

Dirty Bomb voices are good for different accent types aswell. (There's turkish/chinese/japanese accents available and so on)

Just bear in mind that it's easier to ship languages that were made specifically for a localization than it is to make a specific script for a unique language and then find an authentic VA that can speak that language

It's why Zhang and Anette just speak accented english instead of chinese/french. Same with LW1's accent options. It's also probably why there's such huge gaps in updates with that International voice mod since they're specifically adding in new languages, not new accents

Because even without lasers the commander was apparently so good at leading troops XCOM was still giving sectopods and mutons a hard time until the ayys kidnapped them, and they only managed to kidnap them because the council members bitched out and sold you out in exchange for cushy positions in the advent government. It kinda makes sense, the commander was picked out from literally every military leader on the planet to lead XCOM, they're just that good. Given that in 2 the instant you get freed and put in charge again, XCOM turns the tide of a 20 year struggle to not be wiped out and kicks the ayys off the planet in a few months the commander being special to them is well founded.

Just started XCOM 2 and everything went pretty smoothly so far but now I am facing these fuckers and am unable to get past the mission without losing almost my whole squad. Wtf am supposed to do? Their teleport doesn't proc overwatch, no. Overwatch will still trigger when they use their standard move (ha) or if you've got a specialist with covering fire.

My advice to you is to overwatch trap the fuckers where possible or open up with explosives. Cloning splits its health in half between the two copies so a damage one will end up splitting into a pair of 2/3-health clones that can be popped with guarantied damage like stocks, combat protocol, grenades, etc.

As a new player.. how aggressive am I supposed to be in this game? I feel like I have to overwatch camp because its just to dangerous to push into enemies for fear of activating another enemy pack.

I am at the start of the game and just finished the tutorial and that mission where you have to disable that object that is about to blow up.

Like one situation I ran into was it was a lone sectoid and he had high full cover and there was no cover between my guys and him. No good cover that is. So I was afraid of being shot by him so I waited. Was that the play? What else can be done in situations where you just don't have the cover?

I must be fucking retarded because I don't remember ever defusing anything in XCOM 2, sorry. Anyway, that makes it easier to tell you how aggressive the game wants you to be. XCOM 2 is fucking ridiculous, optimal play is alpha striking every pod you encounter on the turn you encounter it and it's not uncommon for people to run two or three grenadiers to a squad. To make that shit work you also want someone with Phantom, or if you're playing the expansion, a Reaper, to just scout ahead and set up your encounter with the next pod. Cover values in unmodded XCOM games are always low, but in X2 it's way more noticeable and aliens have enough aim buffs (e.g. mark) multi action units (e.g. vipers) and cover negation (e.g. MECs) in the average squad to make it almost a certainty that you will lose cover and take wounds in a fight. With wound timers being what they are, this is almost as bad as losing someone entirely before you get better medical. The play on that sectoid was to just throw a grenade at him because before Long War or other mods there's very few cover elements in the game that a grenade won't oneshot. Generally speaking anything made of alien materials will take plasma for guaranteed destruction.

In WoTC there are fewer timed missions it feels like, and you're more free to play defensively, but that doesn't mean cover is worth anything. As the game progresses you'll have less and less use for actually defending yourself. Every new alien ups the ante on how much firepower is on the field, but ultimately only requires you to kill them faster or make the DPS check in a different way (e.g. Andromedons and the Lost)

Oh no problems, most people will say X-Com to set them apart though. The OG games are only as dated as you allow them to be, with projects like openXcom offering just about everything you could ask for in terms of moddability and overhauls. There's not a whole lot of traction to change the really, really oldschool UI though, which you may find obtrusive. The community's attachment to it could easily be just nostalgia, but it contributes enough to that initially overwhelming X-Com experience that hopefully you'll see the charm in it.

Oldcom is phenomenally good still, despite the years, probably the only game from my childhood I'd say has aged extremely well. Openxcom makes it much better as a baseline with a lot of various clarity updates and QoL changes like mousewheel zooming and I can honestly say playing openxcom with mods is my favorite gaming experience of my life. The difficulty curve can be something of a roller coaster if you're not familiar with it though and even with clarity stuff in openxcom a lot of mechanics are still really fucking obtuse to learn, but once you do the game is great. Definitely advise you give it a shot and when you inevitably love it and want more of it try some of the good modpacks for it.

Oh fuck, i am some months into the game and i am afraid of this bug, do i do a new campaign or do i keep playing and somehow counter the dark event?

6 months of pure Lost seems like hell on earth.

I had to restart my campaign because of the dumb lost world bug. Lost are fun in small doses only.

Because the first time around i got the list of dark events, then i just got 1 mission to counter 1 dark event i didnt give 2 shits about but never a chance to counter the real danger event.

They have lightning reflexes, but you can hit them with overwatch, it is tough, true, but possible. The problem is that they have about 1/3 more HP than they should have and, just like every other enemy in the game, they have dodge, which I hate with fucking passion.

Still, in my legend run, I have no problems with killing them, they usually cant run off far enough to be out of range.

Nah he's right, if a reaper goes into the "trigger the faceless" area they get revealed instantly. I've had it happen to me before and I learned my lesson quickly. And no I didn't have the extra detection range event up either,

They're fine to go near once they're active mind you, they just have fucking ESP and can smell your reapers a mile away while they're disguised. Probably a bug honestly.

It was my first terror mission, so almost certainly not. I just restarted the mission because on top of that shit, sectoids were floating above destroyed rooftops I had just naded. Jake! Fix your game!

You could also save scum the dark events and regenerate them if you see the Lost world one.
