So I finished the main route of Rance 9. Obviously I still have plenty of content to go but based off the what I've seen it's the best entry in the entire series in my opinion. The gameplay might not be as fun as Sengoku or Quest but the story and H-scenes and characters and art are top-tier.

The combat's enjoyable, it's mostly careful positioning to maximise ways you can attack enemy troops while minimising ways they can attack you. Like a better version of IV. But it doesn't have the same depth or complexity as those other games, it's much more of a VN with less focus on gameplay.

If you are making very simple changes and don't need all the power of the tool with all the GUI features you can write your own decompiler, it's not as hard as it sounds (at least not for system3.x).

Personally I have a very hard time digging around in SLC's code and making changes there because of the style and because it is in C#. Maybe ask toufu when he is around since he made some changes to the aindecompiler once before.

Every route you complete changes the main route epilogue part related to that character.Getting all 7 also adds a part in the end. To see the full main route true epilogue you can just finish the main route again after getting all routes or you can watch it directly through the scene gallery. It's at the very end of it.

While editing is very important, I feel like it's faster to get through than translating itself. Having a mountain of things to check for editing is bad, but it must be worse by many magnitudes trying to translate that mountain.

For inserting, basically that. Inserting the script into the engine and trying to ensure it doesn't break. Fixing line widths and text length and making sure that the engine supports the symbols that you may or may not use.

It's not to handle branching paths per say but being able to jump to any point I want. It's like a point in a game where you choose a roommate for someone, which affects nothing in the long run, but will give you unique dialogue and lines from the person you choose. Therefore you save at that point, so you can always go back there and see these changes. Especially since they aren't all at one go and are sprinkled throughout the story.
