Goddamn the King of Aquitaine has spent literally half his life invading me and it always goes wrong for him.

The first time he declares war with like 13K troops to my 5K but when I send a call out to my allies I get like 7 responses so he just gets crusaded down.

The second time he splits his blob to take over some area in the middle of nowhere I somehow inherited via one of my vassals and half his 10K he sends to me gets mopped up by my 6.5K or so twice.

But this last time is just sad. Man is 63 years old, sends his 7K army against my 10.5K army.

And each time he loses I get like 700 gold from victory and ransoms. I got 650 for winning the third time there along with 50 gold in two ransoms, and now hold his heir, whom I brutally maimed in battle to the tune of one hand and one jaw, hostage.

Is there any penalty if he dies in captivity by the way? There's no way I'm getting a ransom out off of that old bastard. Also what's some good stuff to build in empty holdings on my capital if I'm just your average Feudal king, but I'm rolling in dosh this time around.

Did the devs in HIP make it so you can't vassalize holy orders? Doing the "land heir then push his claim" trick doesn't work due to a "found my calling" and a permanent "loyal servant" modifier, and granting the order a barony doesn't seem to work even with same culture since I'm not an emperor.

I think it logically follows that as the Romans exert their control over areas they would at the same time impose their culture. But I do agree, more melting pot cultures would be interesting. If I could mod them in, I totally would. One thing I actually wish I could mod in is a Manichean (or Nicene) heresy, a cult of some sort surrounding the Emperor Regulus and his son Manichaeus. The cult would basically be people worshipping this father and son, not only for the Gnostic teachings of the father, but because the son fulfilled his father's "prophecy" of being a great ruler and bringing stability to the Empire. Does anyone know how rebels work in Victoria 2?

I've created an event in which if the Sikh Empire exists, is a great power, has researched nationalism, and has 1 million in cash, it can decide to fund insurgency in India. The decision and event both work, but nothing is happening even with 10 militancy + 10 consciousness in each of the Indian provinces. When I check the rebel screen for the U.K. only 5-11 brigades are ready to join uprising with 0 strength and 0 revolt risk.

How do I fix this?

Finally pushed into east asia, holy fuck was that punishing on my forces and manpower. Hundreds of divisions in a shithole like India/Thailand makes Germany a dull boy. Thankfully, my enemies got the far shittier end of it. Many of them are scraping the barrel, and others are at a flat 0 manpower. I've taken Singapore as well, so at this point any remaining enemies are going to be starved of both manpower and resources. I guess I'm going to navally invade Japan from Korea after licking my wounds, since I'm pretty buddy-buddy With Russia. After that, I suppose a jump to Alaska won't be too difficult.
