Because they simply do not feel good to play right now when you compare them to how quick and smooth Hero is.
Fighter feels ridiculously sluggish and Gunner, while fairly smooth in the air, is a complete shitshow when you are trying to move from point A to B.
Those changes they talked about should help a lot. Simply just being able to Step Jump on ranged classes is already huge, and things like low hitstops and better options for maneuverability are the biggest reason why Hero is so amazing in the first place.

Because GU takes so much extra gear to optimize; Orbit TMG for passive PP, Queen for PP on attack, 12* Units so I could get my Front SRoll and Step Jump rings in, controller macros for swapping weapons so I could actually not take ages for Orbit to kick in, PP Convert Ring so I didn't have to switch to Queen all the time, etc. Hero is more or less optimal without any extra gear/effort.

If you're not looking to top organised MPAs anything from Union to 14* is fine and your units should be ok as well; just take PP drink and get some timed abils for the FoTM area

Depends on content. Overall, Hero and Gu beat out everything with Fi close behind and everything else irrelevant. For mobbing only and for bossing only the other classes can sort of get to play the game. For example, Force is still a class that exists in BQs.

You should still use TMGs regardless though, they are very strong and on Deus in particular you get lots of opportunities for Counter BNS and are able to hit him when Vapor can't reach. Exclusively sticking to Sword is ALWAYS worse than swapping to TMGs when the time is right. Talis is a bit more complicated since the only advantage it has over the other weapons is its Gear Build during Deus, so it really depends on shit like your MPA's RaidDPS and the Encounter Time.

I'm a lvl 57/37 Ra/Gu and I've been enjoying it a lot, Launcher main but most bosses force me to go rifle for mobility as I just spam one shot and custom parallel shot till it dies.

Also, it's likely because I'm a ranged character, but is it normal for mobs to hit so freaking hard? I've been using those three sub units you get at the start and I have about 950 hp and a Super hard forest exploration Gulf takes a third of my health with one hit. I've bought another set of units, since I've read that I should ditch those starter units, which while giving my a nice bump to my R-atk, dex and def, reduces my hp by around 400. and that puts me into OHKO range on the harder maps when i do get hit, I'm basically using the Gunner subclass just for the Deadline Automate skill.

as an old Thunder/Wind main myself, not anymore, unless you enjoy doing Earth quests/EQs a lot
you really should get multiple skilltrees so you can have the maximum benefits of multiple elements
as for skill setups, it is really easy, just max masteries along with the other multipliers, then TATK ups for last, you can go full Photon Flare for a nice boost as well

I play all 3 combinations, by far, Fire/Light/Dark. Fire is almost always recommended because it is the fastest charging element and Fomelgion is very versatile. Light doesn't require explanation and Dark is mainly for powering up Fomelgion, but it is useful and against Shiro/Kuro and dragons.

When you're doing EQs, sometimes you can do a higher difficulty, but check to make sure you're above the level threshold or else you will be doing more work for the same exp amount as VH.
For example, (these numbers are most likely off but you get the idea)
You're level 45, doing VH, but you can choose to do SH. The minimum level requirement is 45, but the recommended is 50. If you decided to play on SH at level 45, you only gain exp as if it were VH. I assume this is in place to discourage lower level players from going into higher enemy territory unless they wanted more rare items.

That's the fault of the new method they use for the patch. It translates shit instantly instead of having to slowly load text in and replace it with the translations, but that has the side effect that cells that don't have a TL yet just stay blank and empty textboxes. It's not a big deal, they will be properly translated and displayed in a couple hours at most. It's easily preferable to the hackneyed half the text is in JP and then suddenly turns to English garbage we had before they changed the method.
