Nah, DW7 immediately reverted back to the old combo system and then DW8 was basically DW5-2. They pretty much erased DW6 from the collective memory as soon as they got their requesite Empires final game out of it and the same fate is going to befall DW9.

It's amazing that people constantly harp on the series needing change but it stays the same for a reason: it works fine and when they do make major changes they manage to mess up the entire thing.

Speak for yourself, the combat in the warriors series needed to get fleshed out. There's a reason I liked Ken's Rage 1 so much, and it was still the same system at it's core. Even Hyrule Warriors was better really just for trying something different with it's quasi dueling, multi classes of enemies, bosses, items, and targeting. I've only played the PS3 ones and Sophie.
But in Rorona, Totori, Meruru, Escha & Logy, and Ayesha you have a time limit of 3-5 ingame years. Usually there are tasks that you have to accomplish over every couple months. Gathering, battling, traveling, etc. all take up time.
Generally speaking the more recent the game is the more lenient the time limit is, to the point where Atelier Shallie did away with time limits completely.

That mission in general is just a nightmare, especially on higher difficulties where almost everyone gets super armor. First you have to fight off all the officers inside the castle, then race all the way to the very edge of river dam, where you can either swim across the river or hope you brought enough speed buffs in your weapon because it's a fucking long walk.

Then worst part is holding the line for Lu Bu and Co to escape because Cao Cao sics dozens of officers at you,including Guo Jia, Xaihou Dun and Yuan.

By the time I finished the mission I thought my controller was gonna break.

China gets the final say on what gets released in the country. So any game company has to follow along if they want their game to sell in China. This usually means no tits, blood or portraying China as the bad guy like how Battlefield 4 got banned and China screamed "cultural-invasion" and labeled it a national security threat.

Korean MMO's for example like DFO get released in China with China specific sprites that cover up tits. The other regions are unaffected by China's censoring.

But DW9 is looking like they're pandering to China from the start. Hence the concerns of China influencing the game.
