My point is that the polls shouldn't exist in the first place. All it comes down to is "I personally don't like this character, I want them out". The characters aren't even hated either nor are they never played, I see plenty of people casing all the time as them. Another reason they want them removed is because some are "shitpost characters". Well removing them won't do anything to stop the shitposters, just make them go back to shitposting as Moe, Mia, or, Greg: characters that can't be removed since they're canon. The only things that will result from removing "shitpost characters" will be more shitposts from canon characters, and the people who genuinely play the characters getting pissed.

And it certainly doesn't help that they were all created by a single person. That almost screams personal preference. Not that I'm saying that other people don't want them out, but I've never seen anybody complain about most, if not all, the characters on that list, or at least demand they be removed like Cindy Stone. But as you said, there's nothing to be done now, since they are up now and people are voting on them, so I suppose we'll soon see whether I'm right or not.

What I've seen from the mods on the discord, is that the reason TyH is not in the arcade is because "it isn't a game". That basically means that you don't really play it to win like mafia or Whose court, you play it just to have fun or something like that. To explain further requires a bit of a crash course of what Persona 5 is about, so buckle up

Basically, the target of the phantom thieves is someone with a structure in another world that houses an object known as a "Treasure". This is basically the person's object of desire that gives them the mental motivation/justification to do horrible things in pursuit of that desire, usually turning them into criminals. By taking away that object, the person loses that motivation and justification, and the guilt of their actions causes them to confess to their crimes.. The phantom thieves are criminals because they are vigilantes trying to circumvent normal legal means in order to take down people that seem to be above the law

So, a TyH format involves investigating for a way into the structure housing the treasure of a criminal, and then taking the treasure to stop said criminal.

I always think the optimal conditions for one would be a the following:

>the case itself was written poorly and needs new evidence to move it forward

On a semi-related note. The defense being "victorious" in a case should be the goal of the role players involved, but shouldnt be the defacto ending.
The defense for all intents and purposes are the heroes of the story, so they're defeat naturally is less fulfilling than the villains (prosecution or witness). However, the prosecution not only has the right to put up a fight, but an obligation to challenge the defense. The thing is, that a witnesses' endgame should be to reveal a shocking truth of the case, or to be exposed as the true criminal.
So essentially, the witnesses responsibility is to provide a reasonable opening for the defense to change the case.
The prosecution's responsibility is to guide the defense to that resolution the witness wants or what best suits the witness' intent.
The defense is responsible for taking advantage of these two and well solving the puzzles they set up.
