I kept waiting to find out that he actually lived and I could resume playing with him at some point but it doesn't appear to be coming.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how to best profit from it? I've heard something about upgrade vehicles before you sell them, and only sell high end or something like that? Just a quick summary on how to maximize profit would be cool.

You need an office and a warehouse (2.5 million in total)
You start sourcing cars from the office, when you have 10 standart and 10 mid tier cars in your warehouse the game will give you only top cars to source. There are 12 top cars, so don't go over 32 stored cars.
You can sell the cars 4 "different" ways, but there's no reason not to choose the only 2 best ways. You either pay 20k for upgrades for each car and sell it for 100k resulting in 80k per car, or, if you have a collection of top cars, each car sells for 80k and everyone also gets a bonus for collection.
Try to find GTAG lobby, ask for help when you need to deliver cars.

I'd get it if you thought Trevor would somehow get out of it, but you should've realized you made a horrible mistake when you watched him burn to death and explode. If not then, certainly by the time the credits rolled and the fact he was still gone from the character wheel should've tipped you off.

GTAIII changed my world when it dropped. My junior high buddy and I played OG, 1969 London and 2 to fucking death. I knew when I saw the pics of 3 in magazines like EGM it was going to be a phenomenon. I remember wishing I was old enough / had the dosh to invest in Rockstar. If I had, I'd be rich.

I was too young to get GTA until SA came out so I'm going back and beating it and VC. I've beaten 2 on my Dreamcast and wow it's a lot of fun, have the London expansion for PSX but don't have the actual GTA1 lol.
III plays more like an arcade which is lost for me in IV and V, I imagine this is due to it being on the heels of 2.

It's true, I don't think I've realized how less arcadey and more "realistic" the game has become, since it's been so gradual and I haven't revised the older ones in a long time. Thinking back, then old school top down ones were pretty wacky and "videogamey", if that makes sense. Stuff like "RAMPAGE" and the bonus it would give you for running over the entire chain gang on the street (they should bring that back lol), was very arcadey. Also, remember that the money in the early ones was more of a score or bragging rights than actual currency you could use for anything.

I also seem to remember them being super hard, mostly due to the game play mechanics and controls. I don't think I ever actually beat 1, 2, or London despite playing them endlessly.

To be honest, Trevor isn't at fault here for being so unbelievably bad by GTA protagonist standards. By all means, he arguably had the biggest potential to be an amazing protagonist, but Dan Houser fucked it all up by making him into a lolrandum meme-machine cannibal just to make him appealable to the tasteless normies and underage kids that will permanently infest this fandom.

What I liked about Trevor is that he was a madman who is walking pipe bomb who could blow up in anger, even if all you did was look at him with a funny expression on your face. His psychology has fascinated me as he was not just an angry dude as he is actually quite a bit of a genius, as evident by how quick he was with numbers and mathematical calculations right on the spot. He could've been so much better off if he wasn't a cannibal cross-dresser with mommy issues.

Not saying that he shouldn't be a tiny bit eccentric, I'm just saying that Dan should've made him into more of a serious character like Michael was. They were doing fine with Michael as a man who is learning from all his mistakes of the past and present, but Trevor's development is garbage and Franklin's practically doesn't exist.

Same here. GTA1 and 2 were great games as a kid, but when 3 came out it changed everything. And that's even as someone who played Driver 2 first which did the whole 3D open world carjacking simulator thing first.

It's amazing thinking back to how much time I spent in GTA3 when the map was so small and there wasn't actually that much to do, I just made my own fun. Owning a Gameshark made it rad too. I remember thinking it was fucking awesome just to get on the top of Love's tower where the cutscenes took place. I feel bad for kids who wont ever get to experience anything before the seventh gen.

I fully agree. The GTA series is a good display piece of the decline of gameplay and "gameyness"/"arcade-like" and incline of cinematism and realism in games. Not that I haven't enjoyed V, but for clearly different reasons than what I found enjoyable in the older games, and much less repayable (evidenced by it leaning so much on online play to keep replayability high as opposed to simply high quality gameplay) but that's I guess what the creator believes the market calls for. I'm hoping this isn't lost on VC. I've heard that Chinawar is also quite gamey but I simply do not have the means to play that unfortunately.

GTA's transfer to a more cinematic game did bring with it one of the series' best points IMO. It's sharp sense of satire, something that gets better with every game. Plus the talk radio stuiff that is actually funny. Not since SSaint's Row the Third's "radio producer carving runes in his chest with the knife from Cobra" did I ever chuckle at radio in a game.

I/E is still the best way to get dosh, and the only two I'd personally recommend are the Alpha Z1 and the Havok but that's because I have a boner for fast ultra-maneuverable air vehicles. The ultralight can go stealth, the Tula is a VTOL with Jet takeoff as well, the Molotok is arguably worse than the Hydra, and the Rogue is pretty fun as you can have a copilot operate the bomb bay bombs are shit as though, they despawn if you're too high up

So a fully upgraded Hunter has:

So i got an oculus rift and went through the setup process according to grandtheftVR.com only to get a message that it wouldnt work because the new dlc made scripthook not work, so i thought meh and thought id chill on a bit of SS instead. tried loading up and got to single player ok but when i tried to go to online i got the message that i was using an altered version of the game and kicked back to singleplayer. I deleted all the files I used to get the rift working and then verifiied my game files through steam and tried again only to get the same shit. Have I fucked my account permanently or will a reinstall fix this shit?
Ive never modded before and certainly never cheated, i just wanted to go to the strip club in VR for research purposes.

Thought I was actually going to be able to conveniently use all my fancy new planes and helicopters, but no, it's just a slightly less shitty Pegasus that you now have to pay insurance for. Still using the boring old Buzzard that I've been using for years because it's the most convenient vehicle in the game if you're actually trying to get somewhere.

This Savage buff is weird. It can survive two explosions of any kind, it gets destroyed in two tank shells and also gets destroyed in two explosive sniper shots.

Really bullshit. It's not a health buff at all, it just makes the chopper smoke when hit by the first explosion. Bullets still take it down fast as per usual.

If you want to get really meta:

What they should have done was spawn the aircraft as a generic vehicle and have it register as your PV once you get in it. That way, you could drive your car to pick it up and your car would just lock and despawn once you got airborne. But that would have required both forethought and actual effort on R*'s part.
