Honestly? Origin. It's easily the most replayable of the single character Ys games and has the best soundtrack to boot. But hell, all three of the PC Ys games, Dawn, and Seven are all good and you should play them. Ys I and II are a bit of an acquired taste, though.

Honestly I think that's mostly due to how large it was. Instead of sticking with 2 characters all the time you have a protagonist an a boatload of permanent characters to try and develop, CS2 had more playable characters than the 3rd. I love CS but the characters were definitely weaker when compared to the other ones, some barely got under the spotlight at all.

Let me just say I started playing FC because I saw a post on /v/ saying it was the greatest videogame love story ever and I too am a sucker for romance. It IS the greatest videogame love story ever told, and all three games, even 3rd which is Kevin's game, handles Joshua and Estelle's relationship spectacularly.

Also, Kevin and Ries' relationship in 3rd can either be interpreted as platonic or romantic. Personally I got romantic out of it. It doesn't even matter either way because they're pretty much never leaving each other's side.

I played V like 2 years ago... whenever the fan translation first came out. That game sucked pretty hard, especially given that it came out AFTER stuff like Terranigma. What happened to Falcom in the mid 90s? They just sort of fell off.
