I personally don't think it's any different; people simply indulge themselves into what they find most appealing to interact as.

When you read a story, or when you RP, you are simply putting on a role. With a story, you just see on your mind, and play through the events on your head, and instead with RP you are there, in that moment, playing the character with other people.

At the end, you are just finding pleasure from the idea and depictions you are going through; the experiences that your character is getting, and ultimately find enjoyment.

I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't enjoy Deltascape Savage.

Maybe the experience is better if I joined a static? But I pug v1s-v3s every week for my weekly 2 chest, and I dread Tuesday everytime it comes around.

It just isn't fun to me. I go in expecting the worst from pugs, and they beat those expectations. I hate repeatedly wiping on shit because of the fault of other people that I have little control over. Savage has come to be a weekly errand, not something enjoyable at all.

Hey all, a friend of mine came over from World of Warcraft, and they were apparently astonished that FFXIV did all their endgame hardcore content in statics.

He said that the concept of statics did not exist in WoW, so he was bummed that party finder pugging was the only other alternative.

Is this true? Did WoW never have statics? If so, why is it the norm (and nearly a necessity in older tiers like Gordias/Midas when it was current) and not in WoW? Did FFXIV just have harder content than WoW did?

They are very different. Wherever ERP is done as ERP the outcome is a richer, involved story, even though it revolves around smut. It can also last many hours, too.

Plus, ERP can involve rules, and guidelines that are seen in normal RP. Though I haven't seen that happen very often.

Cybering on the other hand doesn't usually get much story, or context, and doesn't really last very long.
