Why didn't Akechi killing Jokers shadow kill him? Wouldn't they have to be inside Sae's palace for the kill Joker plan to work? Why would her palace have a holding room if the house always wins? Why did the meta nav magically teleport them to that exact room they wanted? If it could always do that, why didn't they ever use it like that before? Why did the elevator take Akechi to the holding room? Why did the guard look like an actual guard and not a palace guard? Why did her cognition of them bleed when they died? If it was her cognition why would they die in the first place? That's not her cognition, that's Akechis. I'd really like a answer for this beyond shitty writing.

I don't think that Akechi did anything wrong. He was just a victim of circumstances that culminated in him being forced to hurt people. He was used by every adult in his life and never grasped onto anyone. His social link is proof of that. He barely knew Joker, and yet he liked him enough to have that type of relationship. All he wanted was to use his Persona to make the world better, just like Joker, but his goals were warped by Shido. Not having a dad fucks you up, and getting him back would fuck him up even more. Even as a tool, he was just looking for validation because he couldn't get it as a kid. Akechi is a victim, he is not a true antagonist.

P4 was great because the small scale and goofy elements were done well and made serious shit have a bigger impact.

Bigger doesn't mean better. Adachi is still the best villain in the series despite having a low body count. And the only villains that come close to him are Kamoshida and Madarame, because they are encountered early on in the story before shit gets really serious and starts taking place on a huge scale.

Demonic apocalypses and child sacrifices have no impact if they're commonplace. Around 80% of Japanese media is shit because they focus on size and scale instead of quality, spectacle over substance. The small scale and goofiness is why Persona has better characters and stories than SMT.

i'd suggest maxing kawakami and chihaya on your first playthrough if absolutely nothing else, since kawakami's perk is immediately unlocking massages (thus freeing up nights without having to rank her up again), and i'm pretty sure chihaya's unlocks all of her fortune-telling options.

christmas presents give you a bonus if you use a persona that matches that character's arcana when you talk to them in your ng+. this only applies to the girl you romance, though, since the christmas gifts and what you get on the last day are totally different things.

for the other gifts (the ones you get from maxed confidants on the last day), it doesn't unlock the ranks or anything, it just unlocks a specific perk. i could be wrong, but i think you still have to rank the characters up to get things like baton pass, etc.

On the other hand, Futaba and Yusuke's kid, because they basically raised THEMSELVES to survive their autistic parents, would be the next one up, being really responsible.
Haru and Goro's kid would have a massive inferiority complex from not thinking they can measure up to their parents, so they're constantly back-talking and trying to start shit.
That's when Ryuji and Ann's kid comes into play, as they inherited their parents empathy, and from seeing their dad shove his foot in his mouth in front of everyone, they learned that sometimes someone who says the wrong thing all the time may be a good person underneath, so they're basically the heart of the group, making sure nobody gets too angry, like when Makoto's kid channels their dad and starts screwing with Goro's kid, or when Yusuke's child gets annoyed at the antics.
