Riju is no longer insecure at the end of her story arc. Considering she went from losing a priceless heirloom with her town was in danger of annihilation to being instrumental in using said heirloom to assist a Champion of old in calming Naboris

How so? His behaviour in the memories is very much the same as his behaviour following the slumber and in the brief final cutscene, the only thing different is that he has a thousand yard stare when he comes out of any of the memories, which could be interpreted as PTSD but is more likely just the scowl of someone deep in thought given that he's still a fearless warrior. Presumably he's still silent for the same reason as well, and as Zelda represents him that's the main point of his personality- He's silent because he feels he has to appear strong for those that rely on him (because he's simply the best warrior around and Hyrule's last hope). The only thing that really changes isn't really a matter of character development, and that's that immediately following the slumber he is far weaker than he was before and has to regain his physical strength.

As for Riju, I don't recall her giving any indication that she was more confident, and shipper conspiracy theories aside the fact that she's willing to lend the thunder helm to Link until she's big enough to actually wear it comfortably indicates that she knows she's still not really worthy of it and did what she had to out of necessity, not personal ability. In fact she pretty much just rode a sand seal badly and that's it, as we see once we have the thunder helm we could have just worn it ourselves and it's also possible to stay outside of the protection bubble the entire time you're chasing Naboris and make it through fine (though Riju keeps harassing you asking if you want to go back to town if you do), the bubble is pretty much there for people that do Naboris first and can't tank a lightning bolt.

The fact that it's always been the case means literally nothing, this is just the first game where they took it and made it a cornerstone of his personality.

Also it's not for player immersion, that makes no sense. Generally the purpose of a silent protagonist is so the player can identify with them and imagine what they're saying, putting their own words in the character's mouth as it were, for the sake of immersion. Actually lampshading the fact that the character is silent doesn't aid immersion, it breaks it. It's done for the sake of laughs.

They can't even drink until they're significantly older than 17 apparently (either that or gerudo suck at figuring out hylians' age), and they would have to all be having their first child at 16 (and conceiving at 15 but almost 16, assuming a 9 month gestation) or at least some of them having their first child even earlier to fit 6 generations into 100 years. For 7 they'd be conceiving at 13 and having the child soon after turning 14. My opinion is on the fence. The extra elements are kinda nifty, but the abilities they come with kinda wreck the challenge of the game very early. The extra enemies in hard mode are mostly just a source of larger weapons used to make hard mode into something trivial.

Looking at the size of Urbosa's personal guard and presumably army compared to Riju's I'd say the Gerudo are somewhat diminished. Wouldn't surprise me if they had more advnced gem magic in the past and are only now starting to once again unlock the power of the gems

I think they escaped the calamity unharmed actually. The ruins around them seem to be older than Ganon's incursion and there are no Guardian corpses in the desert, even on the rocky outcroppings or the Gerudo Valley, at least none that I recall.
There's plenty in the mountains but they got shut down before they made it into the desert

Anything in the desert would be buried by the sand, including any guardians. From a distance you can see their whole city is built on the top of an existing upcropping of stone, presumably because you can't build on top of sand. Also, there is at least one guardian that can be found in the frozen hghlands, as well as guardians on the other side near the maze. Only the sand is clear, because sand clears itself.

Why would the Gerudo talk about the calamity? None of them were even born, and it doesn't relate to the quest to retake the helm. There are NPCs everywhere that don't specifically talk about the calamity, but it doesn't mean they are in a place that it never impacted. Just as the fact that there are miles of empty road with no guardians in the Hyrule proper areas, even though the calamity impacted everyone. Any guardians in the desert would be gone, swallowed by the sand. Just the fact that Urbosa was killed is direct physical evidence that the calamity reached the desert.

I tend to not take anything from 4SA as canon, but it was known to be Ganon's choice pointy object, and for some reason the Gerudo still had it. They were more or less being treated as complicit in his OoT activities.

Kinda, yeah. Every time he gets killed it's near the castle in Hyrule, but they managed to get it somehow to hide it away. I guess someone could invent an excuse based on SS and TP, since Hyrule owned that temple connected to the robot mining system and also the arbiters grounds.
