Yep, this is intentional. The thing to know about Sol is that he was really intense and hostile until about GGX, where meeting Dizzy and being confronted with the possibility that she is his daughter and that he might have killed Aria when killing Justice caused him to "apply the breaks" a bit. He was bordering on being a villain protagonist before then.

Basically Sol and Ky meeting Dizzy in GGX is the most important moment in the lore. It changed all three of them for the better.

Should I play Elphelt or Jam?

Something I'm struggling with as a new player is getting out of the corner. I'm playing against my friend who's Sol and he just kind of gets me in the corner and then keeps attacking me until he gets a confirm and then I die pretty much.

What should I be looking for in how to get better at fighting against/preventing this? What are my options once I'm in the corner and he's wailing on me? I'm playing Axl, but I'm assuming this is sort of a generic GG concept

Yeah, Bedman was being used from the start. He even mentions that he had a plan to activate the Absolute World, himself. But decided to team up with Ariels because she was the first person he was ever able to have human contact with (in any capacity that they would remember him), and he considered her a friend for that reason alone. So he decided that he was going to help her because he thought they had the same goals.

GG's story mode talks a lot about what an individual defines as "the world" because what is truly important to someone will always be context specific to an individual's life and that it's difficult to morally judge one's decisions when their world is at stake, whatever that may be. It's depicted as a positive thing normally, like Ky's family, May's friends, the people Chipp protects, and so on. Bedman is an example of that taken to an extreme negative. That's what his conversation with Axl was about. Both were in a situation where the only way to get back their loved one, or their world, was to sacrifice literally everything and everyone else. Bedman was fully willing to do that, Axl learned that he wasn't after their conversation.

That doesn't work if the unga player's opponent knows how to block and doesn't panic when they're getting beat in the corner. Let's use Leo's brynhilder stance as an example, since a lot of people complain about that one. In a button mashing player you're probably going to see them mash some combination of pk and the s/hs with some d thrown in for the shield in the hopes to catch your stray hits, but their timing is going to be ass. From what I've noticed in new Leo players they tend to mash out their combo and not know a good way to end it like bt.s into rekka or even hit confirm into super, so they stop mashing for a second to throw out a shield. It's extremely easy to bait this. If you fall for some yeeyee ass shit like that or Sol wakeup DPs you need to stop complaining about unga and start hitting the shower to wash the shame off yourself.

GGs EC PC room. Great fights, especially against Winged Hussar and Jam anon's Millia. Also if the other Leo/Ky anon is around, got any tips for my Leo? I've been looking over my replay data and trying to improve. Definitely gotta drill it into my head to use YRC more, and the big sonicboom, and to work on my overall execution, still pretty ass at IADs, throws, and I noticed I dropped a few combos when the delay dropped since I usually practice around 3-4.

Yeah if you want, I personally can't play on pad so stick works out way better for me and led to a lot of improvement in execution. You won't magically get better without practice but it can open some new doors. I would probably be better on a pad now as I'm much better at the game than when I started but it's a 360 pad and not great for precise stick or dpad movements. I can't spend too long on DS4 controllers playing with the dpad either because it's just not comfortable for my left thumb.

Well I'm actually a long time Sol main. And I mean since 1999 in GG1 long. I always switched out my subs growing up to the point where experimenting on whomever I felt like at the time while having a solid anchor to return to was the normal way to learn the game. As a result I tend to not put much focus on my main beyond being a benchmark for what I like in a character. In my case I'm a hopelessly aggressive player, with a tendency to take reckless risks for the hell of it. So I stick to subbing Rushdown characters like Jam or Millia.

Basically, don't worry too much about "deciding" a main. It almost kind of feels like they'll choose you at the right time, rather than you choosing them.

Those were some intense matches, GG. All you really had to do was catch me in the air once with a tatami or an air dust and half my health is gone.

I haven't played Millia in so long. But I feel like spending the last three weeks powering as Jam helped put me in the mindset to utilize what I remember about her. My next step is definitely starting fresh with her normals. Specifically which ones are jump cancel-able. I know she has a lot of them, but the only one I remembered was 2HS and I didn't even use it.

That's always the prerequisite for characters like her. I play her mainly for her ability to parry (very hard to do consistently online; she is more fun at locals), but I'm used to playing lower-tier characters myself.

When I first played fighting games in 2009, I picked up Gen as my first character in SF4 on a pad and stuck with him through USF4. It's all about personal preference and how much you like the gimmicks/aesthetic of the character.

If the dude is all about Baiken, he can probably become a decent Baiken.

Any tips on timing the air dash for Baiken's dust loop? I can do IAD tatami, kire tatami, and tk yozansen but I only get the air dash like 1 out of 10 tries. I feel like I'm struggling because I can't tell if I'm inputting it too quickly or too late. Also, what's a good corner combo for if you can't do the dust loop?

You better learn that dustloop, and send them to the corner when you can't. That's where Baiken gets her big girl damage.
I learned it visually by first air dashing right before I hit the ground, and through practice, was able to transition that to natural timing and feel.

It's unreactable actually if kara cancelled from her command dash. Only MAX version is safe tho and it's mostly used against lightweight characters since it makes them easier to combo.
