Nope, her older brother and the one who is the heir to the throne, and the character Penders planned to have take Sally's place once he had her killed off (He tried at least twice for reasons ranging from "She cramped Sonic's style" to "Her father made her redundant" (Which is questionable since wouldn't Elias fall under that umbrella) to "She'd force Sonic to take things seriously". Elias only existed to supplant Sally, and he basically had her personality under Ken.. It's only under writers like Bollers and Ian where he got the things that ultimately ended up making him a decent character.

So taking all o this into consideration, you would think he'd play a big role in M25YL, ESPECIALLY since Ken had him become king (Granted this was after the arc technically ended but in Ken's words, M25YL is THE future) yet we see Sonic being king and Sally being queen (Even though in a traditional monarchy Sonic wouldn't even BE king and Sally would hold the power of the throne).

Though this makes more sense given that Sonic wasn't even supposed to BE in M25YL, as it was originally supposed to be a Knuckles story (Which spun out of a cut Knuckles story called Knuckles 20 years later which had the main villain be Not! Dr Eggman from another comic he made called The Lost Ones)

In this particular case it's because the MMO in question is a follow-up to two single-player Star Wars games that were considered to be fantastic games at least at the times of their release. I think it was sparked by a combination of people hating Big the Cat, people hating Heroes, people hating Shadow and his fucking garbage edgelord game, and 2006 pushing things over the edge by simultaneously being the worst Sonic game ever and introducing Silver, who was doomed to be despised since he came in at a time where contempt for Shadow had reached maximum levels.

Sonic Mania is the best Sonic game in 78 years.

Sonic needs a hard reboot with new games that focus on story and coherent worldbuilding and continuity. Some things need to be tweaked as well, and some things like Shadow's origin story need to be heavily rewritten.
