Depends on the monster, really. My limited experience with ranged seems it's not really any more or less difficult in the grand scheme of things. Monsters target ranged more and deal way more damage so it kinda offsets having long range.

Still, some monsters are babbymode with gunner. Gravios for one. Generally any AoE shitter or slow moving monsters.

Gross. I don't know much of aerial but I'm willing to bet you just roll into the monster and hit it while in the air.

Pick a style that has 2 slots for arts. I'll be damned if I know the names, but one makes your swordmode awesome, the other reloads your gauge.

IN GENERAL you pretty much want to stay in sword mode as much as you can. Check the pastebin if you want the nitty gritty or combos. It's worth learning the axe attack that transforms into a sword slash. I think it's forward X in axemode (Does a kind of thrust and scoop), then R which will swing around and slash in sword mode. Also if you're sheathed and running, X+A will draw and slash directly into sword mode. No axe mode needed.

Anyway, wack away in sword mode. Mess with alternating X and A combos. You'll find you'll settle into 1 of 2 patterns, the up slash, then a double horizontal slash. That does loads of damage. The other one is a up and down slash that repeats forever. Use that one if another hunter is near you. Don't be a tripping shitter.

Keep an eye on your gauge. DO NOT LET IT RUN OUT COMPLETELY. You will automatically be forced into axemode with a long animation. Wait until there's a sliver left, get some room, go back into axe mode and reload.

Axe mode is great for reach but not so great for damage. There's an upslash in axemode that's excellent for cutting high tails and slapping flying monsters out of the air. There's also an infinite combo that will trip all other hunters within a 70 foot radius that you'll get greedy with and will eat a huge hit. Try to use it if the monster's down and you are out of sword charge or better yet, reload, sword mode, X+A and mash X to make your sword explode.

Just get use to finding the gentle rocking motion that sword mode has. Learn not to get greedy with it. Once you've got your sword mode down, then you can stop running away to reload and instead just hack away in axe mode while your gauge recharges

Make a jap paypal account but dont link a card yet, then go to the Switch and try to purchase MonHun with the Paypal option. This will send an email from Nintendo to you that will guide you to linking your eshop account to the paypal account and adding a credit card to it.
