Just don't bother with higher difficulty for Xp, or only do so if you're having a cakewalk. Can't really give any advice on the story mode since I have yet to play it.
The option for xp should be in the in-game menu somewhere. I'll try to look into it

For a long time I did start characters in VC before dropping it, several time.

By the time you have 50 renown you should have a modest little band anyways. Why would a King vassalize some loser who can't contribute a warband for his cause? Or attempt to defend the very shitty village that kings are obligated to force on you as a starting vassal?

Seems that it's true, but everything looks pretty cozy, so I guess I could stand this stuff for liitle bit more. I'n not /ha/fag at all, but guts tell me that this is some real shit out there. Like these funny weapons of these "looters" (cones and shit). Music is also pretty cool. And my toaster handles all this better than native, with better settings for some reason.

Not unless it's some poorly made armor or the suit is made for a man twice your size (or half your size).

Chainmail and scale armors are especially suited to this, because if your shirt is too big or too small, you can just add more links or scales to fit or remove them. It's time

This is both the strongest and weakest point of mb. On one hand, you're able to unleash your creativity and roleplay desires, which are what keep the game alive. The problem is that once the self immersion is gone, it's a somewhat shallow game. Then again warband is pretty fucking old, I just hope bannerlord just give us more tools to keep the fun going on for longer, wb survived on mods.

What I've seen so far:
- Upstab with spears (thank god finally)
- Directional shield blocking
- Multi-hit swings
- Pseudo-combos where hits chain together
- Shield bash

We know kicks are back and I assume feints and chamber blocks (but everyone I've seen play so far is so shit they can't do either).

I'm still waiting on confirmation of crouching (though there was one early video it was possibly in) and bracing for spears / pikes etc. Also I've seen what looks suspiciously like a sprint (at least on horseback) a couple of times.

Did I miss anything?

The map icon size doesn't factor into the travel speed. Those are two completely independent variables. If you can cross the map in 5-6 days it's because they set the speed to be like that, irrespective of how large things are.

You can hire mercenary companions from the get-go. Each major culture; except Mongolian I believe, has 3 region specific companions that only vassals or kings have access to.

As an example there are 3 Roman Catholic companions and 3 Islamic companions. By jumping around the different factions you can try to get them all as early as possible.

I can't really think of any armors that would give you much trouble with bows other than fantasy armor with all kinds of weird protrusions and tournament armors. As long as the helmet doesn't impair your vision too much you should be good. Purely out of curiosity; do you have an example of one that might be challenge to shoot with?

Give it up. 99% of MB fanbase will defend to the death those awkward twisting around; all those mouse-dragging tricks such as the spear thrusts, speed-increasing 2h slashes, etc. The feints are alright at first (all those arm feints are cool), but then someone found out that you can trick the opponent by exploiting the differences between the directional-based mechanics and the plain common sense that you can see with the 3D model animation (aka in front of your monitor). Something like parrying an attack that looks like it's swung from the left but then turns out it's a right attack because of some mouse tricks and strafing. Because of this, duels often become battles of sidestepping and strafing, totally the opposite of the development of historical fencing (where you mostly go forward or backward).

Furthermore, there is also no limitation to blocking, even with weapons. Arming swords, maces, and axes are not meant for parrying, let alone static blocking stances. Let alone blocking a sledgehammer. They were always wielded together with shields.

I still remember someone shitting up the idea of making upstab native because it will make spears 'unbalanced' with its already well-known thrust 'techniques' in MP. This is the majority of the MB players. The type of people who cares nothing about innovation or tackling the fundamental problems of directional-based combat mechanics and free mouse look. They only care about this gamey aspect "medieval-combat-inspired" autism, so that they can eat both cakes ("gameplay/competition" and "roleplaying") within their comfort zone. Like how Battlefield 1 is just "inspired" by WW1 warfare, and nothing more than that. I bet it would make a good tagline for Bannerlord.

Armor could definitely be a negative for specific weapon techniques; namely sword styles that required both wrists to be held together and would be incompatible with gauntlets, but that is very different than a professional warrior getting winded with minimal exertion.

And fuck penalizing armor universally simply because of narrow grip swords. Isn't it bad enough that armor is made less effective so that sword users can damage them with swings.

Its been quite a while so I can't remember. I think that "disband lance troops" only applies to lance troops - meaning that Mercenaries and Prisoners may not be disbanded with that option. If so you will probably have to just dismiss them in a conventional manner.

If my memory is correct note that this is a GOOD thing though, as disbanded Mercenary or Prisoners cannot be re-recruited via the Lance system anyways.

Of course there are different periods for armor but the same goes for weapons. I'd say weapons in the dark ages weren't as advanced as weapons in the later periods of the middle ages but you won't cut or break decently made chainmail with a sword or spear. What you can do, however is exhaust or daze your opponent with strikes, get him off balance, throw him to the gound and then stab him in the face.

That being said, chainmail in the dark ages was considered heavy armor I'm pretty sure and only rich folks could afford one as well as the concept of a standing army wasn't really known to the people back then, which means your average soldier had piss poor gear to begin with.

Physical attacks do not lower enemy stamina unless you're fighting unarmed or you're using damage fatigue spells or poisons. But it sure as hell lowers yours.
Its a pretty shitty mechanic in that game honestly. It just means that traveling is annoying since you'll be out of stamina all the time and you'll need to stop and rest for an hour before every fight to get it back or chug down potions if you're in trouble.

Hand-To-Hand sounds fun at first, but then you find out that you have no way of directly damaging anything before they're completely drained out of stamina. So every fight just turns into spamming power attacks at a single enemy for 5 minutes until they fall down and then curb stomping them with your shitty weak slaps for another five until they die.

With heavy armor I don't mean the actual weight, but the type of protection it offered. In the dark ages, chainmail would've been considered heavy armor because it offered the most protection, in late medieval times, a chainmail would've been medium or light armor because plate armor was much better at protecting you from blows and injuries.

Nah man, spears didn't pierce mail. Chainmail was specialized military armor so the people that could afford to wear one were very few in number. Most people who fought back then were militias or drafted peasants so the chance to encounter someone wearing mail was pretty low since the bulk of the army was fodder.

With spears you could still poke at the legs and other unprotected parts or hold someone with mail on distance, maybe even push him over with a well placed and powerful thrust.

I've been looking for quite some time for some sort of troop tree both ingame and on the internet but the most I could find was a forum thread with a bunch of weird names and it didn't even have the troops I know of.

As for simply recruiting them and raising them ingame to see what happens, I don't have the means to recruit non-mercenary troops unless I own the fief it seems like.

Im currently playing the Clash of Kings mod to get my Westeros fix. This mod is fucking YUGE. But holy balls Im having fun. Its a lot harder to get started as you cant immediately raise an army, and the enemy ai actually has a great chance of killing you in single combat. Much more difficult than vanilla. Also I was broke so I raided a septry in the reach and fled to the westerlands to buddy up with the Lannisters. But I decided tjey were cunts so now Im hanging out with Stannis Baratheon at Dragonstone. I have about 20 men, mostly hunters and sellswords. When I have enough of a reputation to raise an army Im gonna work my way up and becomd a land owning lord. Its a fun, different experience from Vanilla. Both are great though.

Any tips for making it big in the seven kingdoms? I just wanna be able to march an army to kings landing and fuck shit up at some point.

I'm starting a new game in VC, playing as a Nord. My plan is to merc for Northumbria and start a bunch of wars with other kingdoms in order to gain RtR each time they make peace. I plan on building iron/flax/wool in Dorestad/Ribe/Lundenwic (or the other costal city near by). Traveling around raiding/trading to finance building an army for my own kingdom. What is the best way to build positive relations with other kingdoms though? I had a problem in my last game where I had my own kingdom that none of the other factions wanted to be friends.

They're definietely Sturgians. First of all they lack the "Longbowmen" (I think?) and Yeomen that we've seen the Batannians have in the past. And they also have an infantry unit called the "Ulfhednar" which means berserker and absolutely associated with norsemen. This mode looks fun af. But now I can't help but think of how it could be better.

Instead of just customizing your troops each battle, with nothing gained from battle to battle, it should allow for players to "level up" and advance their online troops, much like the single player style. So you start with the basic troops, and slowly have to train them by gaining xp in online battles; the faction you choose each time matters, as those troops don't contribute xp to other faction troops when you switch over, and this would also apply to the troop types (ranged, infantry, cavalry). This way, you will have people specializing in certain factions and troop types, and could allow for more of a long term faction vs faction concept and lots of stats to show which troops are the best. Maybe even allow for larger battles, with players becoming "vasals" of other players, giving them more units to use even if those vasals are offline.

I kind of agree that a in-match system, with multiple rounds and with upgrades every round, but that has problems too (the losers of the previous round are now even more fucked over, so quiting will happen often).

My biggest concern with the game mode is that people will get annoyed with the random faction selections. They might only really want to play as 1 or 2 factions, but keep getting stuck with snow niggers or horse fuckers. I guess they might have a voting system to allow for teams to vote between a few factions each game.

But that ties into what other anons have been saying: that catering to the team deathmatch online community isn't necessarily what's best for the game. The single player game is great for it's large battles with formations. In such battle, finding yourself outnumbered is a testament to you being a shit player/AI. Troops should stay in formations and fight with each other and only ever be outnumbered when they are losing the battle. So stamina can work in that kind of gameplay, whereas it doesn't work so well in the Team deathmatch because "team" isn't really justified in that game mode. This new MP mode in bannerlord would work better though.

Not that I know of. Horses stay the same speed no matter what their health is in native. In the diplomacy mod I noticed they slow down quite a bit though once they are low in health. Pretty much makes them useless because obviously your horse is going to take fucking damage unless your a horse archer that always runs away.

the only bug in 3.1 iirc is that some prisons are inaccessible in some castle scenes so you can't rescue lords from them, but that's not really a big deal. sometimes the random encounters can cause sashimono to stop spawning on troops too but you can just disable encounters in the camp menu if you want.
imo sugoroku is the best geko submod but you might also like gekonewer.
