"Purposeful debilitation" would be viable in a setting where how good you are at something is a quantifiable thing, like a shooter where accuracy and K/D are statistics that are recorded. Many writers, like Earnest Hemmingway, feel that their creative juices flow much better when drunk as compared to when sober, so to let someone who ruined the game for other people off easy for what many others would be considered the norm of being creative is not fair to people who don't drink and case, and gives an unfair "advantage" to those who feel like they are more creative when drunk.
